Since reinstalling FSX my nav/beacon lights display with black boxes around them. I thought this was a well known problem/solution, but solution is apparently not replacing the the default effects files and I can't remember what else to try. Thanks in advance.

Hmm, replaced all of the texture and effects files with a stock copies taken from a previous (and functioning) installation...but the problem still persists. Any more ideas?

Have you tried running "repair" from your installation disk?

All of the default .fx files use fx_2.bmp file from the ..\Effects\Texture folder.

Interesting..I hope Henry is right. I've tried a repair re-install and that did me no good.
