Now I know a lot of you will think I've gone over the hill but I do remember a tie bar holding the Corsair and Helldivers wings in place. I know, I've put many of them on myself. But I forget how we got up there to put them on. I have a vague memory of standing on the cowl but I'm not sure.
The stroke put some holes in my brain. Can someone help me.
They were put on in case a gust of wind would not load the wing retraction mechanism.

Helldiver,

I don't know how your name sake was done, but on the corsair they weren't at the "top" of the wings.
I'm purty sure they came off the fuse on each side, near the top, an went staight out to the wing, about half way up the folded part.

Looks like you you could've stood on the main wing an put them on.

Am I the only one that remember the tie bars? Must be someone that remembers that far back. It was only 60 years ago

Thank God, you came to my rescue and they were mounted where you showed. It bothered me because I don't remember them being hard to put on. Thank you guys.
Huub where did you get the picture of VB-7? Got any more pictures of SB2C squadrons?
