WOULD ANYONE BE INTERESTED?

I was curious as to IF, I would host a game of Combat Flight Simulator 3 on GameRanger, how many people would be willing to join. I also am curious if that is how playing each other could be done, through GameRanger.

M2pilot, haven't seen you around here before. I have GameRanger installed and get little action here. The diehard CFS3 players here don't trust it, and won't use it.

Also, to my knowledge, and several of us have tried, Vista can't connect to CFS3 through GR, only with IP-to-IP games, and with a special mod to CFS3 in Vist: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforu...ntion-VISTA-users!!!-(Shell.exe-is-NOT-needed)

GameRanger works with XP.

I have XP.

GR may well not work with Vista and Windows 7.

Some of us have tried it with Vista and couldn't play.

I can't say for sure that they were using the fix properly.

For IP-to-IP play, there are two fixes for both Vista and Windows 7, as I put in my post above. You have to follow those directions exactly.

Again, they may not work through GameRanger.

I'm glad to see that both sims are still being used and modded actively.

There will probably never be another moddable series of combat flight sims like we have in cfs1,2 & 3.
The way the 'net & software is going with all this online server based stuff it will kill user creativity.
Games like the new wings of prey are a good example of you only get what you're spoon fed by the developers.
Luckily folks 'round here pushed that spoon away and spat it out!

:salute: Pat Pattle , I believe you are right . Games that allow third party development however, will continue beyond thier original lifespan of interest , leaving those that dont ,to be items of historic interest only.
