Harrier AV8B+ developement

The people of the Virtual Base of Rota (www.bvr.es) is developing an AV8B+ Harrier. Is has appeared yet in several topics. The development is really advanced. This video includes images of tests of one of the last versions. It will be available probably as donationware, and will include (at least) Spanish Armada and USMC textures.

 
It looks like its sitting too low to me, something just isn't right. Yes, I see that it has a full load...........it just doesn't look like the AV-8's I spent hours around? Guess I'm getting old!

it's nice to see a Spanish contingent here now, especially one that speaks great English. We have quite a diverse group here, but many choose to be nationally ambiguous in the face of all us loud Americans, Brits, Kiwis and Aussies, I guess.

Your product looks great!! I personally look forward to seeing your USMC textures.

Thanks for the welcome. I suppose that anybody who loves flying or virtual flights has to use at least a poor English.

One of my friends says that Bad-English, and not English, is the most spoken language in the world.

And, for Mudmarine, you´re not getting old. Several testers said the same and it is one of the bugs to be corrected. If you have any other suggestion or crtiticism it´ll be welcome

Here's a suggestion, get some royal navy textures going before the brits find out you're only planning USMC and Spanish Armada!!:icon_lol:
 
British and Italian textures are in mind. Up to my knowledge, the USMC Harrier painting has begun today. And somebody considered the possibility of making changes to the model to create a GR7/9, but that won´t be easy.

The Royal Navy have only used the FRS.1, FA.2 and GR.7/9, so such a scheme would look a bit dodgy on the AV-8B model. Would be nice if the relevent model changes are indeed made, though!

The aircraft carrier in the video, the Prince of Asturias, will be available with the Harrier, I don´t know if it will be in the same package or as a freeware download.

I´m also finishing th Juan Carlos I Strategic Projection Ship (the basis of the future aussie Canberra class)

And my friend Max Benocci is finishing the FSX version of the Cavour carrier. I suppose he´ll be the first interested in Italian textures for the Harrier

So, you´ll have a lot of ships to take off and land. And there are also very good payware carriers to use Harriers.

Hi all,

First, a disclaimer: my post is merely based on the video clip referenced in the first post of this thread.

Now (for those of you that know me, will understand why :icon_lol:) when I see a Harrier video which uses texts like "VTOL" and "independant flaps and nozzles", my interrest is triggered ......

Allthough the exterior model (other then the low-sitting) and VC seems very nice, I was a bit disappointed watching the video.

1. Since "VTOL" is THE most unique (and complex to model) feature of a Harrier, I would have expected to see that in the video; but I can't. Neither vertical takeoff, hovering of vertical landing.. (I'm fairly sure the unrealistic 30-degree pitch-up or so landing isn't "pilot-error")

2. The claim "independant flaps and nozzles" seems untrue; as far as I can tell from the video, nozzles are merely an extension of the MSFS flaps function (as in all Harrier addon's every made for MSFS), both in control (using "flaps" commands) and flightdynamics (inducing flapsfunction-based drag/lift). As you can see by the "flaps-posiiton-indicator" and "flaps-in-transition-light" in the VC, when the nozzles are rotated back and forth.

Again, my comment is only based on the posted video clip; since that suggests features that aren't really there.
