This is a very well known and popular general aviation aircraft. Guess the name of the plane and receive one free! Winners will be the first 10 people to name that plane. Here are a few hints:

  • Has been released by other commercial developers for Flight simulator in the past, but not for Flight Simulator X.
  • Was commonly seen on TV in the 1950s
  • Has a prominent control surface feature
  • Was originally designed in the years following WW II. Model being replicated was built in the 1970s
  • Part of its name is also on a record album
  • May be obtained by digging in the right place
Send us your contest entires here.

its sad. there are two planes i can think of right off the bat that starred in my favorite TV show every week in the fifties, but, since its a GA plane and not military, we can rule out one of them..

and darned if i didnt miss the posted link too.....................

Pam

Pretty easy to guess, so I bet they are past the 10 winners already...
I think certain folks around here are going to be very happy.

I'm sure a Bobcat "May be obtained by digging in the right place' but I don't think it has a 'Has a prominent control surface feature', and neither has a 310.

I think Tim made a typo and the clue should have been 'Was commonly seen on TV in the 1960s'; I also think he means the name of the model, not that the aircraft itself was seen...

:wiggle:

the record album clue would fit too and the T50 has quite a large rudder tail :jump: BUT it has already been done so this is not the one :icon_lol:

  • May be obtained by digging in the right place

Just take a close look at the FSD Homepage and you will find a very helpful hint :mixedsmi:

I don't think it is a C310 or a Bobcat...I guess it's a plane that was also made by Bill Lyons a few years ago.

Greetings
Tim

I guess that too, Tim, and I think I started on the same plane 2 weeks ago. So I guess I can stop now.
But maybe I'm wrong, and I can continue.:kilroy:

The hints said it was commonly seen on TV in the 1950s. Not going to tell you if it is just the name of the plane or the whole plane itself. That would not be sporty.

We have had well over 100 entries. Several were correct, and several were for the plane, which we have also not announced, that will be coming in the months after this release.

I can tell you that previous releases for previous versions of Flight Simulator have been very very popular. Also, while not a hint, I can tell you that this release, and the one after that will include both a top quality VC and 2D panels. The 2D panels will be available in both widescreen and "square screen" or "standard" formats.

In addition to the first 10 winners receiving a free one, anyone who guesses right will get a 10% discount code for their shopping cart that will apply to a purchase 30 days post release.

....another delay to the Jet Star being released.....

I'll guess a Cessna 310

K.

Won't reply on your guess until release day, when all of the winners will be announced.

Yes I am afraid the delay for the JetStar is again delayed. This is frustrating to us as well, and one of the reasons why we will not announce upcoming projects so soon, because there are so many things that can go wrong. In this case, the work we did for the JetStar in FS 2004 had to be scrapped when Microsoft keep changing the compatibility playing field with the various service releases for FS X. Then the designer left the group, taking all of the source file with him.

In order to do it right at this point, at the higher quality level that any cutting edge developer must meet, we will once again need to start it all over from scratch. Economically, we just cannot commit the higher level of time and resources necessary for this class of plane right now and stay afloat. So we will need to get several of these GA models out of the way first before we can tackle this huge undertaking.

A remarkable assortment of guesses in the reply forms and some folks got it right, and even some who got it wrong got it right as well , maybe they would also like to take a shot at this question , who is the SOH member who flies a 310 and sent in a whole bunch of jpg's of every square inch of the aircraft, he earned a repaint for that at least!

I wonder if it'll wierd for Ken if we're all flying his airplane around. :mixedsmi:

edit: oh, and that screenshot is awesome!!
