Good news for Beau fans!

All in an afternoon's work...

Hey guys,

To attack shipping in Tripoli, here are the harbor facilities...

"title_string"=Beaus in the sand - Hit shipping in Tripoli
"summary_string"=Attention! Rommel has been amassing supplies and reinforcements within Western Libya, regrouping following the recent Allied advance past Benghazi. Tonight you will use our newly-acquired forward airfields to strike shipping in Tripoli harbor.
"objective_string"=The dawn of 1942 saw Axis forces hibernating in Libya, licking their wounds after losing ground to Allied forces over the previous summer. They used this time to rebuild their badly depleted forces, preparing for a renewed offensive in the coming weeks and months.
"intelligence_string"=Your temporary deployment here near Benghazi is to permit you to join in on the attacks on shipping within Tripoli harbor. Your flight is to carry out a night raid there. You are to make landfall east of Tripoli, then approach the harbor from the ocean, keeping as low as possible. Keep your wits about you. The enemy may be temporarily down, but still has some fight left in him!

I´m looking foward for your release!

Hey guys,

I love to fly from time to time the heavies and break the "monotony" of shooting!

Great port facilitie!! :applause::medals:

But it looks that your Beau had some hidraulic leak or it was 5 o´clock and the pilot was thinking in landing for having tea!!

Cheers, Discus:wavey:

The campaign is progressing, but...

To all,

I'm having an internal debate at the moment about what to do with this. One pet peeve of mine is I hate jumping around from base to base without any context. (One mission you fly out of Benghazi, and the next you're in Egypt)

This is my mission crib sheet at the moment...

Ancona, Italy (19)
Poretta, Corsica - Ancona, Italy (18)
Poretta, Corsica (17)
Poretta, Corsica (16)
Trapani, Sicily - Poretta, Corisca (15)
Gioia Del Colle, Italy (14)
Palermo, Sicily - Giola Del Colle, Italy (13)
Palermo, Sicily (12)
Palermo, Sicily (11)
Palermo, Sicily (10)
Bone, Algeria (09)
Bone, Algeria (08)
Bone, Algeria (07)
Luqa, Malta - Bone, Algeria (06)
Luqa, Malta (05)
Luqa, Malta (04)
Alexandria, Egypt - Luqa, Malta (03)
Alexandria, Egypt (02)
Benghazi, Libya (01)

Needed missions - Bengazi to Alexandria, Bone to Palermo, Gioia Del Colle to Trapani.

So do you guys want me to create the transfer missions? I could always liven them up with intercepts or other fun ideas...

For Jean Bomber...

Jean Bomber,

As you can see, I have spent some time building harbors at Tripoli, Palermo, Bone, and Tunis. This isn't meant for historical accuracy, the harbors are relatively quick & dirty, specifically designed for the Mediterranean Beaufighter campaign. I tried to use the natural contours of the terrain, I am adverse to flattens unless absolutely necessary.

I was toying with the possibility of turning them into permanent GSL objects, which I know how to do, and allowing you to take off from them as seaplane bases, something I don't know how to do.

As far as help from you, I still need assistance with the area around Bari, Italy, as well as continuation of your work at Bizerte, perhaps completing the airbase there. I'll also be working on building a harbor at Alexandria. This is not finalized, I would be more than happy to share the layout files for these harbor structures.

The materials I'm using are fairly standard...Wolfi's library object packs, as well as 88mm Flak guns, Xavierb's warehouses, piers, and forts, and I used Usio's brick lighthouse for Tripoli.

The permanent GSL structures would not include the ships I'm using...that is strictly for mission purposes only.

Please feel free to contact me and/or offer feedback.

Hey guys,

Alexandria took a while to build, but I think the results are decent...:jump:

What is needed for Alexandria is a couple of simple two storey white and sand coloured buildings with flat roofs and a simple mosque. These could be used all along the North African coast. If some kind scenery builder could make these they would come in very handy in the GSL. Rami, over at U Tube there is footage of a B-24 flight from Egypt to Tunisia during WW2. There is a wealth of material there on town and port layout for the main urban centres. I think I've saved the link, so I'll have a look and let you know.

Hi Ravenna,
I think this is already being worked on. Saw this while strolling though Jean Bombers's photo album. :ernae:
