Freeware V-Tail

falcon409

SOH-CM-2025
Per a short note that txnetcop made in the FSD thread on the V-Tail, I downloaded the freeware version and was pretty pleased with the results. It's not a top notch model, but it's still a nicely done rendition of the V-35 with a really nice VC and interior. If you got "no budge in your budget" right now, this might be an alternative.

There's one drawback to the texture mapping. . .the four wing and horizontal stab surfaces are mapped to one texture (one for the wing, one for the stab). That means any numbering on the wings is out as it will show on all four surfaces. I also made a copy of the wireframe for the fuselage, flipped it and aligned it so that matching the left and right sides of the airplane textures will be a bit easier.

Yeah, it's a great model to hold us over until the highly detailed payware versions come out. I did a couple of repaints for it a while back (search for Killbilly in the Add-Ons Archive). The texture mapping is a bit funny (especially watch out for the nose cone, cowl flaps, and a couple of minor parts -- they're hard to find). Also, the flaps are modelled funny so that the shadows appear wrong on them sometimes. However, it's fun to fly and a great looker -- especially at the price. I fly it quite a lot.

Hey nice job on the panel there. Good to know it can be modified. I'll look for your repaints, thanks for the HU.:salute:

Yes it's nice and I have it but find myself always going back to Carenado's, maybe because of all the skins I have for it.
Seems like all I fly anymore are the C birds. :jump:

Nice job Killbilly!!! I like it very much
