Can anyone ID this plane?

G'day All;

I was wondering if anyone can positively ID this aircraft?

I'm not talking about the 109 in the foreground .. I'm wondering about the one in the background. The one with the triple tail.

NO GUESSING PLEASE. This is not a contest ... just a simple question.

The photo is dated: "France 1940"

Does anyone know for sure?

Believe it or Not, Dirtman, the plane in the background that is obstructed by a BF-109 and the tail of the Dewoitine D.520 is a Loire Nieuport LN 401 Naval Dive bomber.

The LN 401 is the French equivalent of the Junkers Ju 87 Sturzkampfflugzeug (Or Stuka)

Right, except the foremost French plane is a MS 406, not a D520
 
LN 401 or LN 411 ?? We'll probably never know.

in addition to which my book "Combat aircrfat of world war two" (1985) says: ... after the 19th of May attack ...

"subsequently relegated [to] reconnaissance, night attack roles on southern (Italian) front; twelve of twenty-four examples produced under Vichy control later seized by Germany."

This has inspired me, I must install Baldy's plane and have a fly!

The rudder is from a Morane Saulnier MS406C-1...
 
Loire 451

There are a couple of updates to the original model to include folding wings and a tail hook for carrier operations.
