I know from previous strings that a lot of us still enjoy occasionally flying the original MS campaigns. It always irritated me that they used the same F4F all the way through, so I went back and changed all the appropriate textures to the pre-Midway color scheme. And why not change all the aircraft the same way? (Thanks to B-24 Guy this was pretty easy.) Then I changed the ships and so on. I used the campaigns as sort of a study guide and began leaning a lot about the war in the Pacific. Some of the missions as written are inaccurate. For example, the IJN never flew Bettys against Wake Island, they used Nells instead. Of course the old missions were written before they had all the planes we have now such as Wolfi's superb Nell. For someone like myself, who is not all that skilled in the various CFS2 arts, it is becoming a way to learn some of the basics of Mission Building as I go along. Next I'm getting ready to tackle changing reticles. The point is, we can do as little or as much as our knowledge and inclination permits. Some of the mission I especially like are being put in my mission folder. I doubt if any could be uploaded because of copyright issues, but I'm enjoying it and you might too. :d

Hern: Many folks here have "modified" many parts of the original CFS2 program. Giving credit to M$ is all that is needed. If you use someone else's work, just be sure you have their permission, or they give permission in their readme.......many say its OK if you don't use it in payware......... check to be sure. Always give them credit in your readme.

As far as the reticles go.....if you are using mine, give me a PM if you have any problems.

Good luck........ more tinkering means more uploads, and keeps our beloved old sim alive and well.:ernae:

Hern, i did the same to my set of Aviar's stock camps upgrade a couple of weeks ago (except for the Nell/Wake fix). Changed skins for the Wildcats, Hellcats, Corsairs, Zeroes, Vals, Kates and Oscars for better fit with the chronology of recorded engagements and locations and put more Georges in late '43 missions. Changed a few stock carriers too to get more out of my add-ons.

For those who may not know, Gabe "Aviar" Buzasi made some nice modifications to the stock camps back in 2001, which i have preferred over the stockers for quite some time now. He did two sets: one for all air-starts and one for ground-starting. I think they're still available at Netwings and SimV:

Hech, this Sim is so fexible that you can do a lot more with it than we realize. Its probably the most versatile Sim in the Market. There is even UFO available if you like. You can actualy setup a UFO sighting and chase it with a F16 and see if can catch it and shot it down. I do not care for that type of mission myself but it can be done through the Mision builder. The best thing about a UFO sighting mission is that it can be replicated any where in the World through the Mission Builder. Just to show you how flexible this Sim really is.

No its not a perfect Sim but its a dam good one.

Henry enjoy your enhancent of your missions and if you like upload them. It all up to you!

I would not mind seeing your talen abilities through your missions replicating a improve representation of Historical missions.:applause:

PS Thank you Bear!

Thanks to all for the input. Miami, when you talk about the quality of CFS2, you're preaching to the choir. I have a lot of the other games, but they are not doing anything but gathering dust. I had no idea of uploading anything, I was just throwing out some ideas that were giving me enjoyment. But, over the years I have taken so much and not given anything back. So, I will start modifying some of the missions and hope I can contribute something. No false modisty, but most of the time I have only the faintest idea of what I'm doing. But I do have some knowledge of the period and I believe I can make them more historically accurate or, at least, historically plausible. I have already learned one thing: there's a BIG difference between messing around for your own pleasure and doing something that someone else might use. :d
