Upgraded Bf109g-6 uploaded!

Hmmm... You seem to be missing the textures for the filter... Odd. It is in the package - just checked! dr_filterpylon_03_t.dds and dr_filterpylon_04_t.dds. Look in the "Contents into pylons" subfolder.

Anyway, glad you're having fun!

N

I've noticed no missing textures. The filter isn't there? So what is this bulging thing under the nose in my pic?
Everything in the package was installed successfully...:bump:

N.

No, the filter is there all right, but it shouldn't be black. That looks like a missing texture to me. I've checked the package, and it's in there, so I've no idea what has happened. If I were you, I'd run a search for dr_filterpylon_03 and _04, just to make sure. That's odd... There are dr_filterpylon_01 and _02 in MAW and ETO, but as I've partially repainted them, I've changed the file names.

Hi guys, hi Nigel !

Woo Hoooo ! Your upgrade looks absolutely very good. Can't wait to use it.

Can I suggest something ?
If you could shape the four small air scoops just aft of the propeller, it would be more realistic.

Thanks.

I think Owen will like this one! Coming soon...
Yes, this one and also the 7./JG 27 based in Greece! Tidle Wave B24's were engaged by Luftwaffe's 109 based in Roumania over Ploesti and by those based in Greece on their way back home (they had to operate very close to the maximum range of the 109).

Do you also have a Bulgarian Gustav in the pipe? They were equipped with G6s and they engaged the B24's on their way back home over Bulgaria.

Unfortunately, we don't have access to the GMAX source file. The model upgrading has been done with hex editing, which can't add parts. So that's all you're getting, I'm afraid.

My thinking exactly! That B-24 Ted's putting together is going to be the focal point for aircraft from a number of air forces... Evil, aren't I!

Yea I think a upgrade to the poliesti missions are in order..

Thanks for all these great bf 109s I'll crash them a quickly as i can..
They fly apart in such cool colors when they bang into the ground..
OPPPS..
Never doubt I can wreck any plane..
When the new freeware b-24 is released we shall have it all..
and a updated set of poliesti missions too..

Anybody got a profile of a Bulgarian G-6 that did operate against the Ploesti raids? Any help would be very welcome - it's a little bit outside my field! I have some profiles - Wings Palette et al. - but no decent info about who was where. Bit too busy to look at the moment, too...

A lot of informations but 'only' B24's profiles in this one, no 109, sorry.

It was 3/6 Orliak that intercepted the B24's of Tidal Wave on their way back home but, according to this magasine, they were equipped with G2's.

So, G6 will not be 100% historically accurate for this precise mission but it will be perfect! :jump:

Alternatively, there is plan B... The G-6 model is actually so poorly done that if you remove the lines and shading from the skin, the cannon breech bulges are little more than a bit of a bump. The toss-up is to see whether I use the stock G-6 or the GC F-4 as a basis for a G-2/4... On the one, you have a rather bumpy cowling, and on the other, too much perspex... Dilemma... And the F-4 canopy frame is the early type. Hmmm - I think it'll be the G-6 model, myself. Opinions?

Opinions?

Bumpy cowling. Any day of the week. Seriously now Nigel, you portrayed a high fuselage Spitfire Mk XIV as a Mk 24 without hesitating and now you're worrying about some cowling bulges! :kilroy:

I may have something special in store for you regarding those early G models too...

WOW I shall have to Plan on QUITE a upgrade is seems for the Poliesti set..
Thanks Nigel, and all invovled..
BRAVO..
:salute::salute:

So do I - takes about half an hour to remove the bits you don't want, and we're off.

Bit of detail concern - some (later) G-2s had wing bulges, because of enlarged main wheels, but not most - correct? While G-4s generally did have them?

Generally, but not always. The first G-4s also had the small spoked wheels, then larger spoked wheels and finally G-6 style steelies. Add to that the possible changing of wings from one aircraft to another, small wheels from a damaged early G-2 to a "bumpy" G-4...
