• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

O/T British General Elections

I can't vote tomorrow - I've been living out of the country for too long. So without mentioning any party in particular, let me simply ask all those British members who can vote tomorrow to do so, and to do so thoughtfully in full understanding of the issues, and in the light of the achievements, so to speak, of this last government during its time in office...

Ho ho, nicely put old bean! I shall of course do my duty and mark an appropriate (Black?) Spot. At least we can still vote in this scept'red isle and without some jobsworth 'supervising' our choice.

Vote early, vote often... :icon_lol:

Clive, I tried that page and IE and then Norton went bazooka. Shome mistake, shurely?

I'm in the unusual position that the new Malton and Thirsk Constituancy can't vote tomorrow due to the demise of the UKIP candidate. So we're to vote on the 27th! The area has been Tory forever, yet the long standing MP has retired, so who knows what'll happen here. Today it's been said that there's not much between the three parties.

Well we have a hung Parliament.

Basically means nobody is in charge!

Oh well just the same as before then really!!

Well I dont know why you guys think it will make any difference; it will only be the degree to which the average guy will get shafted.:a1451:. One thing is for sure, things will not be as good as it was for the previous generation; well maybe being already eligible for my OAP. I mean you younger guys in particular.:173go1:

Mongoose, the major difference to before Thursday is that the Beeb et al will now talk politics 23.5 hours a day instead of just 18. Thursday itself was pleasantly free of political hyper-speculation, but take it from me, Friday was manic.

Whatever happens, the legacy of the past administration still has to be dealt with, or we're heading the Hellenic way and it's not going to be fun for anyone. It's enough to drive even a teetotaller to drink... :ernae: :icon29: :guinness: :isadizzy:

Whatever else, I want to see less Big Brother interference, no ID cards, fewer cameras, fewer chavs hanging aimlessly around, and less local council nazism. Admittedly, I don't live there any more, but to be frank, the way things are now, it's enough to make me wonder about asking for Australian nationality just to protest!

Ditto. Unfortunately, the chavs will take more than political diktat to fix. By the time you get to third-generation layaboutism, any diktat is just water off a duck's back.

Unfortunately true... But cutting off their social security under certain conditions might provide some incentive.

And who will willingly do that? Only someone whose British political career is over and cares not a fig what anyone thinks of him - perhaps the chap who won the '97 election? (Tsk tsk, slapped wrists!) :icon_lol:
