News at Alphasim

This thread looks like it has no reason at all to go downhill. A fresh start under a new storefront can't hurt Alphasim. Noone has any reason to not give virtavia a chance.

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before any possible lock. The seas are calm.

Well just know how previous Alpha threads have gone. Hence the comment.

sad to see alphasim go , but good to know that they are still operating under a new name , i really wann see an reworked fsx sea king , hope they update the alphasim sea king for fsx :)

Well I was assisting them on a FSx Seaking, new VC and reworked exterior, but that was months ago and I've heard no progress updates since, not sure now if its one of the ones hinted at above from the new company or if its been quietly dropped. This news is as much a suprise to me as anyone !.

It'd be great if Virtuavia/Alphasim could remake the EE Lightning for FSX ,with all of the bells and whistles.

I wish Cloud9 would take up the Frightning batton and run as they did with their F-104!!! But alas. I have heard via the grapevine that IRIS are / were planning an F3 but I hope the FDE department are upto the task and if DB you are considering an F3 pls go the whole hog and do the F2a. Not too many alterations, just the addition of Cannon in the nose would suffice I am sure... In fact why do the F3? It was a poorman's F6 and definitely a step down from the F2.. :D Now in a perfect world Aerosoft would give us a T5 with all the trimmings, imagine sharing the aircraft in Multiplayer... Some one... Puhlease? Ah... I am rambling... Better stop. Sorry guys :)

A Lightning is just one of many classic aircraft missing in FSX. So many aircraft were developed for FS9 but have never re-appeared for FSX, I suppose it’s down to increased development times and perceived lack of commercial validity.

Ah, but there are still many days ahead of us...I would not at all be surprised to see some of those beauties materialize in the years ahead.

Just look at the resurgence of less popular Warbirds recently, i.e., Hellcat, Corsair and SBD. There are still a few developers around that appreciate those classic rides.

Add to that, the amazing freeware developers who continue to produce fantastic, first rate aircraft for everyone to enjoy, I think the best is yet to come.

BR's,
mal

Thanks for the heads up Noddy and keeping us informed.

Some great aircraft from AS. I hope all goes well in the transition to the new company. A fresh start.

Indeed, David and I way back early last year carved a few models between us, my Lightning was shelved so that he could do it and not tread on his toes, my side of the deal was the F-100, since moved to Razbam but still on a burner. A recent post from David cleared the Lightning as he was busy with other stuff, so who knows ?, I have a pressing project for a'n'other (and an Alphasim thread is an appropriate forum to discuss further) with another (hopefully) Mach2 fighter lined up behind, so maybe the Lightning will eventually surface.

I did hear rumors of another elsewhere but z ole grey cells are not what they used to be.

Well thats certainly encouraging mate, heres to hoping for a frightning!

Man, I've all but forgotten about Cloud9, are those guys even around anymore?

Personal Update:
Apparently not, at least not in a day to day functional way. Everything is being moved over to the "fsdreamteam" site to include all support functions.

Does that mean I now have to buy the VC for my C-17? I'm confused!

yup.

I was afraid that developers were going to go down this road. Sorta what Carenado is up to with the double/triple release of the same craft under different styles. Not to mention the whole HD audio that they tag on their pictures. Should it not all be High Quality? Were we getting low quality before? Anyway off topic, Life takes us all down different routes and changes frequently, so this is just that, Life changing.

Yup? Maybe we should all wait for an official verdict on that one (I apologise if there already is one).

Dan.

Virtavia site still a little ways off...B-1B being worked on, as is the C-17 VC. No timeframes.

Thanks Mal, truly wanting to get the C-17, just awaiting them to finish it. I liked their B-1 and would love to see it updated in FSX splendor and if some electronic such as TFR could be added...

Yes but somebody needs to develop one first. One that works fast and in realtime.
No slew jumps to avoid the approaching hill.

Actually I wrote the specs for one several years ago and discussed it with Justin Tyme of FSGenesis and Herbert Pralle when he was making gauges full time for Alphasim. The problem is knowing where in the computer memory to read the upcoming scenery elevations. It was a pretty complex design I had but definitely doable once that tiny bit of info was made available.
:ernae:

I'm hoping they will revisit the XB-70, although it may not be a popular enough seller to justify it. Of course it can wait at least until after the B-58 :icon_lol:
