Fraps will only capture what is in the game window.

It has been updated with new features lots of times over the last year. Check the change log.

The only limitation is it can not take screen shots of a normal desktop. It only takes them within the game.

The payware FRAPS will benchmark any frame you want, even make movie whole your work in Photoshop. It will take screen captures and save them in .bmp, .jpg, or .pny. It yake .avi videos of any PC game in action, but like I said, you can check a benckmark square and it will record you working in your programs as well. Read the FAQ. I have used the program pretty much since it's inception. I have always used the payware version.

I am far from a pro movie maker like some of the other people you meet on this and such like forums, there is some real talent out there and I cant help but tip my hat to them, but if its any help and without trying to plum for a shameless plug here is my most recent vid with the scenes captured in Fraps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZQ2zYT_Rgo (View in HD for best).

As I say I am far from a pro film editor and I am certain there are more qualified people here that can help you put the Fraps save files together into a neat movie.
