bombsights?

There are some Bombers that do come with a Bombsights in their panels but most do not come with one. There is a generic one I think call Austin Bomber sight that fits most Bombers. Its acomplicated to figure out and install but its worth a try.

Maybe other members have a better sugestions!:icon_lol:
 
All the Overhauled bombers come with a bombsight by Philippe Burnage.
Best level bombsight there is.

Just click on the "bomb" gauge to get to it and click on the "cockpit" gauge to return to panel view.

The only minor issue is that you must be in full screen mode to use it.

There is a simple bomb sight that came with the Alpha Sim freeware Wellington (I think) that I have been using in a lot of panel set ups lately. Check out my uploads and grab panels for the Alpha Sim freeware bombers....they will have the bomb site included. You will need to click on the GPS button on the 2D panel to activate it.

Philippe's is the most like a functioning Norden Bombsight. It reacts to the aircraft and with the use of an Autopilot gauge you can fly the aircraft. There are two versions of it out there. The first is a single view angle and the second is adjustable. The old single angle version was originally created for the AF=Midway Kate and a Mossie Philippe was working on.

Once you have the gauges installed it can be used in any aircraft through the panel.cfg. It can be a bit tricky depending on the existing panel.cfg. I've got it in everything from B-24's to TBD's. Just put it in JM's B-24 and Gramps B-17E.
 
The origianl single POV bombsight can be found at NetWings>Downloads>CFS2 Campaigns> AF=Midway> Gauges Pak. This is a single gauge.

The updated Multi-POV version can be found at Simviation>CFS2 Aircraft>Page 52 in Philippes DH 98 Mosquito Generic Files (BIVgen.ZIP)
There are 3 gauges in this one. It is also included in several of the B-24 Guy's OH series here at the Outhouse.

still cant find the bombsight on oh planes.where is the bomb gauge?
 
Hi Scruff,

There is one gauge file named "Mosquito.gau" it must be placed in the CFS2/Gauges Folder.

Then in the Aircraft Panel folder is a file called panel.cfg. in this file is the data for the gauges and windows of the AC.

On the main panel is an entry that looks like this...

gauge22=Mosquito!Switch, 553,373,12

Then there is another window that has these entrys.

I do like the look of that sight BD but this is what I like about Philippe's.
It adjusts to the Speed and Altitude of the Aircraft. Just set the AP for Altitude and steer to the target. Keep the two sets of crosshairs aligned and Bingo!

The target in this case is a Hog Islander. I'm at Angels 10. 215knts.

It's actually two (2) different bombsights...

- 200 mph sight from "B24D Hail_Columbia" at 39.45 deg. [Fixed Window38] on the "Page Up" key (for line-up and low alt. runs)

- 155 mph (don't rember from where) at 57.25 deg. [Fixed Window39] on the "Page Down" key (for high and heavy)

and a custom NAV panel [Window03] on the the"F9" key

- Select 2D view
- Select 200 mph sight
- Select NAV panel
- Line up, set AP, engines, IAS, rudder(w/ trim) on .64 zoom
- Switch to 155 mph sight
- Zoom to 1.0 ( " \ " key or "[ or ]" keys)
- hit the alt. hash and drop

Puts'em down the chimney at 10,000 ft.

Let me know and I'll try to put a package together.

Pen32Win ... that looks like hitting that proverbial pickle barrel from 20,000 feet if I ever saw anything!

What always threw me about that bomb sight was the "angle" selector. I noticed that you started at 40 degrees ... then went to 50 ... then to 60 (where I can see the bombs starting their fall) ... then to 90 (to see the results of the strike directly below.)

But ...the selector begins at 20 degrees ... then goes to 30 ... but does it matter which setting you use before you hit the release point? Maybe my problem was just not spending enough time with it ... which was a couple of years ago ... still don't know much ... but more than I did back then. Your guidance is appreciated.
