Hello everyone. A question for the geniuses about the stock B-24.
At a specific distance, the prop disks turn solid (opaque). Only that specific distance. At other distances, the props appear normally. I know there is a fix for this. I recall reading about it and doing it a couple of years ago, but then lost the fix when I switched to a flyable version. I'm pretty sure the fix involves editing a LOD out of the air file at the troublesome distance, or something like that.
Can anyone re-remember me on this?
I've had to eliminate a lot of my cherished addon aircraft after noticing that my new computer's nvidia card doesn't handle most addons well at all. Odd. It runs CFS3 great, runs CFS2 with stock aircraft great, but many of the addon aircraft turn the frame rates to stone when viewed at long distance - which is also odd. You'd think they wouldn't be that hard to render when they're nothing but dots in the distance, but for some reason the card doesn't see it that way.
Anyhow, in the process of re-tooling for my new rig, I had to give up all my cherished addon bombers and go back to the stockers. The stock B-24 is a good plane once you balance it out so that it doesn't buck when the AI's fly it. There's just that pesky prop texture thing...Fortunately, some of the "must have" addons work perfectly with my rig, so I'm not completely tatoo'd. Still have enough Allied and German addon planes for the ETO. Just suffering from a slight heavy bomber shortage.
