Anyone have A2A's B377 Stratocruiser:Opinions

I am not Usually an airliner type of guy but it's on sale and so far everything I have gotten from A2A is top notch. So what do you who have it think? Could it turn a small plane guy into a big plane guy?

My personal opinion is that I still jump into it regularly and most of my hops are comparatively short these days. I have taken it across oceans and from capital city to capital city, but it's a rarity compared to a quick nip between US states or, say Bristol to Hamburg in the Guppy.

To start with, it's a handful. Unlike the B-17, you can only really hand the turbos off to your crew - everything else you have to do yourself and that can create a very high workload when you've got things wrong, or the weather gets challenging. Most of the time, though, there are "sweet spot" settings for the engineer's controls that allow you to take off, climb and cruise, only adjusting them to prevent too much cooling on descent, then open everything again for landing.

I think it's a fantastic aircraft. Although I'd love to see it updated to the standard of the B-17 if that were possible (is it?), I'm more than happy with it as it is.

I'd probably better state in the name of fairness that I got my copy free to write the review. Unlike many review products, though, it has stayed firmly installed.
 
Thanks for the input. I will most likely go ahead and get it. It seems like a good choice for the hop between PHNL and KLAX one of my favorites.
 
I absolutely love the Accusimed B-377 by A2A. It has become at least an every week flyer! Keeps ya busy in the cockpit but it is a lot of fun.

Well (and don't tell A2A this).. if for some bizarre reason, my 377 became unusable, and I had to purchase a new one, and the price had gone up to $1,000 ... I'd pay it. :jump:
 
I absolutely agree with all of the above post! I have well over 1,000 hours with this baby...but I lost all the time due to a recent HD crash..#&@+*!...
I found it very captivating when she first came out with the 1 st. generation of Accusim. Remember that you'll also get the Guppy with the package.
A2A is having a sale today & tomorrow with 25% off, so I recomend that you pick her up!
 
I bought it from day one and it is a staple of my collection. Haven't regretted the purchase for a second. Although I will agree with the above people and say that she is a handful. Especially in bad weather, or trans Atlantic flights. Especially when you lose an engine, lol.
 
Thanks for the input everyone got her and have crashed her blown up some engines and fired a couple of Copilots. Us eager beaver types just don't like to waste time reading manuals,this is really a blast.

Although very nicely modelled and having been really enjoying the P-47, I found the workload to be too high to enjoy the flight experience. For me this wasn't a good buy, so be sure the multi- engine experience is something you're keen on.
 
I find it a wonderful aircraft and agree with all the complimentary comments above...consider that the B377 is an "afternoon of nothing" aircraft....

In other words, if you have the rest of the afternoon to do nothing but flight sim and want to immerse yourself, this is the one you want.

On the other hand, if you have just a hour, you will hardly get off the ground. Better to jump in something else.

Be patient and check out the documentation or you will be frustrated.
 
I love the plane, but I hardly ever fly it. It would appeal to me more if there was a "simple fly" option similar to Aerosoft's PBY.

I spend a lot of time flying multiplayer, so having to mess with systems is not condusive to flying with a group.

I don't think I've ever flown it without smoking the engines...lol

Still, for those who like to keep busy being the pilot, co-pilot, and engineer, this plane will fill the bill.
 
I usually don´t use FS too long, so I like to take this one out, get it started, cruise a little around Dillingham, buzz the tower and than bring her down again. Really joyful, even though I don´t have Accusim (don´t have that kind of money to spend of FS usually). It´s nice for longer flights, too, but I just don´t often do it. It is one of the aircraft in FS I really enjoy, it´s rewarding to get her up into the air, and it doesn´t get too boring.

And if one is not prepared to put the time into learning the Accusim products, or they are beyond one, there are always the NON-accusim versions.

Seems daft to me to buy an aircraft addon sold on the basis of its complexity, then complain about it... the only excuse is if it was a present!
