For all you guys who wish you had a Willys ...

I had a 1949 CJ3A for a few years. Lots of fun,....wouldn't do over 50 mph. But that was okay. It had the 'Hurricane' straight four engine in it.....:jump:...sounded as if the head would blow off at any moment but never did.
Makes me wonder though if the persons behind this new retro jeep might be breaking some patents. From the body design to the name plate that says "Willys' on it. I'm sure they looked well into it beforehand,....otherwise Chrysler/Jeep would be all over them in a minute. But for $79,000 as a starting price,...I don't know. Think I'll invest my money in other things.....

I have owned two Willy's. The first was a 1952 M38, and the last one, a 1945 MB.

No way would I spend so much cash on a reasonable facsimile, when I could have the original for a fraction of that cost!!!

My only military vehicle currently is a 1967 M274 Mule.....

Growing up, a good friend of my Dad had a CJ3A.
Most uncomfortable thing to just ride around in.
But it climbed like a mountain goat.
We explored many back roads and goat paths in Colorado.
Good memories.

Love that Mule vehicle. Cool looking design. I'll bet that thing is indispensable on a farm or large estate.

I have driven many of the old Willy's(In the military) and loved them . Wow ! $79,000

It looks like it has very good engineering but I just can't get over the pricetag . If I could afford one I would diffinately consider it .

Well, the mule is a well-built vehicle. I haven't had it started for months. It sits in my barn, gathering dust. I have just over 6 acres, and most of it rolling. The mule can navigate very rough terrain, and at a snail's pace, if need be. Am waiting for cooler temps, and fewer darn flying insects, before I crank the mule up and go tooling around.......

I might take one if they mount an operational .50 Cal machinegun on it. :d

My 1945 MB had a reproduction 50 cal. on it. It didn't shoot bullets, but had propane and oxygen tanks (very small) hooked to it. The sound it made was very realistic, and extremely LOUD! Fire would emit from the muzzle a couple inches. If you didn't have earplugs in, it would cause your ears to ring....

Very cool. Also had an M100 trailer I pulled behind it. Sold them both to pay a shyster divorce lawyer (is there any other kind?).
