Pasped Skylark by Lionheart Creations, Released!

It's lovely.

No problems with vis. Obviously, like any taildragger, you can have issues on the runway - but once airborne, there's plenty of glass (better still, pull back the canopy to get a "clear" view).

Glad I didn't let vis put me off. Lovely job, Bill, thanks.

I'm glad you did Paul!
I'd have thought from the plethora of screenshots it would have been clear that it's a superb model and I bet Bill's kicking himself that he released it so cheap!

I find the VC forward view much better than most of WWII aircraft in FSX.
Here is the regular VC view:
cockpit.jpg

I created a "Fool Window" view to be able to taxi (canopy open) with my head to the left, one eye outside as I stretch my neck out to the left. It is more comfortable. Here is the code I added to my aircraft.cfg :
[CameraDefinition.XX]
Title = "FOOL WINDOW"
Guid = {CD089D78-FC8E-486c-9EF7-F0A458E1F9DF}
Origin = Virtual Cockpit
MomentumEffect = No
SnapPbhAdjust = None
SnapPbhReturn = False
PanPbhAdjust = None
PanPbhReturn = False
Track = None
ShowAxis = FALSE
AllowZoom = TRUE
InitialZoom = 0.65
SmoothZoomTime = 2.0
ZoomPanScalar = 1.0
ShowWeather = Yes
XyzAdjust = TRUE
ShowLensFlare=TRUE
Category = Cockpit
PitchPanRate=20
HeadingPanRate=60
InitialXyz=-0.25, 0.0, -0.32
InitialPbh=15.5, 0, 0

Here is the view I get :

Love this plane. :ernae:

Hi Bill,

Like many others, I purchased through PayPal. (Never again?)

It sure would be nice to be able to obtain the update without having to send a one-on-one PM to you. (I'll do this, but I guess that I'm expressing a sense of expectations about obtaining updates.)

Just a suggestion ...

Best,
Mike

Hey Mike,

With PayLoadz, it standard procedure. So that everyone knows, to get the update, you simply sign up for a free membership to www.payloadz.com Then when you need an update, you just go to Payloadz.com, look up your Buying/History, find the plane you want, select it, click Request Reload form, say 'I need another Bill', and soon a link is sent to your email. Easy.

They recently made it that you have to sign in, even just customers. They must have been hit with spam bots or something to require this. I have to sign in every time myself, but only the password.

I hope that helps.

Mike, your link was IM'd you just now.

Bill

Mirage,

That is just too cool! I wish I had known/realised that could be done, lol...

Would you mind if I put that in a special section on the Skylark webpage for others to see and check out? I would put in your handle name of course.

Not a all Bill! Please, use the code at your convenience! :)

Just a moment to thank Bill for his update to v1.1 (and his help in getting it) as well as the splendid Green&Cream livery. Thanks to Roger for the new prop and glass textures. And to Jan for the classic mahogany panel. And to MirageIII for the helpful out-of-the-window camera parameters. Great hobby, eh?

Mike

It is a great all-around package. When I first saw it, I didn't have a lot of interest in it. Not any more. It flies very well even in dense scenery areas on my 3+ year old PC. I bought it because Bill can do no wrong :salute: and the price was right. For now, it's one of my favorite aircraft - especially with the green and cream(?) paint scheme. :applause:

Glenn

But how does it fly guys????? did i do ok??

You did fantastic, Pam. It flies great.

Going to add in Roger's green plexi and prop update now, thanks Roger.

Bill, I love your green and creme scheme.

Mirage, just added your new camera to my config, going to check it out now.

I noticed something when adding it. There are two "Tail" defs, and the numbering is out of order at the second one, making the others invisible.

Looking good

Scenery is the Flight Sim Design's San Diego Photoreal. Not impressed, the autogen is mostly wrong, and very very lite. Also, the required altitude for sharp textures is at least 3500' AGL. And the bay area is totally goofed up. The only positive is that the textures are much newer than MegaScenery's SoCal X.

Is it my "Fool Window" view that you are using on this shot ? (2nd window)
This view should be used on the ground (or on final) canopy open!
:)

Yes, it's your view. I grabbed the wrong shot, there. I opened the canopy for the next shot. Was just trying it out. For some reason, I can't get it in the normal view sequence, even tho' I put it in the first position. So, I used it in an extra window so I wouldn't lose it everytime I switched views. Is there some way to put it in the normal rotation???

Here is the way I use to select the various views.
Right click then select the appropriate view. Here is the limit of my knowledge ! :ernae:

Hey all,

One of our members found an electrical flaw which was traced to the config file. Seems I have forgotten about assigning a Generator to the engine and system. (smacks self) What happens is that after roughly 10 to 20 min's, depeninding on what all you have running that eats electricity, you will run out of battery and the electrics will fail (lights go out, auto pilot shuts off.

Thanks Forest for discovering the issue. Most appreciated.

I will have an update soon for this. Just needs a tweak to the config, or loading the fixed config for those that do not know about how to edit config files.

The update should be out in a few days and I should have a download fix in a few hours.

For those that havent edited a config file before, navigate to the Skylark folder, right click on the 'aircraft.cfg' file, select Open With... and then select Windows Notepad. In Notepad, navigate down to the 'Electrical' section and locate the verbage below. Change, and save. For those in Windows 7 and vista (cough), you may need to have your 'safeties' off as windows doesnt like people tampering with config files.

Edit the section here;

electrical
engine_generator_map = 0,0 // <---- wrong

Change 0,0 to 1,0 like so....

electrical
engine_generator_map = 1,0 // <---- fixed

My humble apologies.

Bill

MirageIII,

Is it called a fool window because you would look like a fool looking out of that on approach.
From the the Tower "That man is always trying to get the girls by doing stupid stunts on approach, look at him now, the fool sticking his head out on approach..."

Exactly SADT; I think it refers to the pilot who stretches his neck out of the cockpit to be able to see something on final...
That's how my instructor called the small side window in the citation cockpit! :ernae:
