MR's Guam Is Up And In The Queue!

wow. I am looking at old b and w photos that my friend Dan has (he was base commander of Guam) and this looks very good indeed, remarkable and such an essential part of any complete Pacific Theatre for the WWII. thanks again Chris for labor long and hard.:salute:

Well, I thoughg I followed the readme to a "T", but after installation, I get the checkerboard effect. MR Marianas is placed right on top of the scenery list and all of the files (I think) went where they were supposed to go. Any ideas?

You need to check that the contents of your

CFS2/Texture

&

CFS2/SCENEDB/WORLD/Texture

folders match. If they don't, CFS2 can't decide which file to load, & defaults to the GREEN/ BLUE checkerboard for the cells it thinks it has a conflict over.

Hope this helps.

They are not remotely the same. But this issue only effects the Marianas topograhy (Guam, Rota). And when I remove/uninstall the MR Marianas, it's back to normal.

OK, so my guess is there's at least one texture bmp called out in the Marianas scenery set that needs to be the same in both folders.

Any chance of a sceenshot to illustrate the checkerboard you're seeing?

PS

MR created scenery using the G2K program. One of the quirks is it likes the terrain bmps called up in both folders to match. If you have a particular bmp in your main texture folder (or vice versa), but not in your scenedb/ world/ texture folder, it can cause display problems.

If you're nervous you'll lose something, make a back up of both folders before you copy across.

To expand, that's the 000b2su1 type of files, & the vshoresu, vriver, vroad types of bmp, you're just looking to match up terrain bmps.

Turns out that I did not have a single terrain bmp in my TEXTURE folder. I copied those in the SCENEDB/WORLD/TEXTURE folder over. Now it works. Thanks.

Hi Guys. Big apologies here for not being around today to ride herd on this thread!:redf:

Thanks UncleTgt for taking up the slack! Appreciate it.

Happy you got it up and running right, wsmwsm. Way to hang in!:d

It can definitely get frustrating at times and its almost always something very simple- a very small thing overlooked.

MR.....
A quick note of thanks and then a question for anyone.

I've been having a blast installing all of your sceneries over the past month. Never had the confidence to do it before. Planes and ships were no trouble but scenery was beyond me. Now suddenly I am beginning to see the light. So thanks much for all of your hard work. This latest -MR Marianas is superb.

Question: For some reason I am missing an object. Everytime I go to Fly out of Guam Orote Pt. , whether in MB, Free Flight or QC I get a nasty note that CFS2 can't find the model jp_tower2 in the library. This doesn't prevent me from entering past the error message and proceeding to load the scenery but it's annoying and I just wondered if anyone could diagnose the problem.I've searched and searched, but to no avail. It's the only thing I haven't been able to get working perfectly.

Hiya Worthless!

I must have left some scenery object library out of my list of object packs to install. I'll get back.

OK, yeah, its a scenery pack by xavierb. The file name is xbp_japan.zip.

Here is the link to xavierb's download section here at SOH

Thanks for the heads up. I will add this to my list of required objects packs at MaskRider homepage.

What spiffy service. Thanks, that explains it. I haven't as yet added any Japan scenery.
Slowly but surely, I'm going to get there.
