Im putting the team in the hands of the community here.

We have a few free days coming up so I wanted to get the team started on a carrier. I'll take anything into consideration.

The main topic of this thread is which aircraft carrier is mostly missed in fsx.

I have a Yorktown class carrier already modeled, but its a little "heavy" for FSX. Currently in at about 15 million polygons....

For WWII stuff, York or Enterprise. The Big E was a Yorktown class. Korea, I would say Midway class. You can have it with and without angled deck, and there is still a Midway class available for referances in San D.

I would go with the Big E. We already have a modern carrier thanks to Javier. A big E carrier would be excellent for WWII stuff.

My vote has to be for the Forrestal Class. Having been on deployments on the Independence and the Saratoga, I would really like to see them represented.........

Deano youre British, how about some RN STUFF to show these yanks how you really rule the waves :salute:

Anything from the 40's or 50's w/t a straight deck to go along w/t the Sweet Naval ac you guy's are pumping out get's my vote!!:salute:

All those great WWII prop planes need a carrier to call home...an Essex class carrier, or one from the fifties for all those cool early jets coming online.

Concur. Make something that fits with your existing products.

I think a carrier with an angled deck from the early fifties would be nice to go with all of the post WWII props and early jets, plus there is already a Big E over at flightsim.com that works very well with AI Carriers...(its under fsx misc. type in enterprise)

I think a Korean war era carrier is very much needed, I'd also personally love to see the Forrestal done for personal reasons.

Your welcome to have a copy of my Korean straight deck USS Boxer Max mesh if you think it will help your cause.

PM me and I'm sure we can make work out some sort of agreement.

I second (third..) that on behalf of the WWII navy prop planes. That would be a blast.

Cheers,

Mal and David are spot on. There are modern Nimitz class cvn's and the Alphasim Big E. There are also at the other end of the spectrum, some good pre WWII built flat tops e.g. CV 6 and 9 (?) from the FS Shipyards web site that you can use in AI Carriers to cruise around the Solomon Islands.

The big gap is the Korea and Vietnam era which need to be satisfied by a hi res Essex class straight deck and angled deck conversion e.g. USS Intrepid - and/or Forrestall class carrier.

NOTHING would make me happier . . :salute:
