Madrid finally ready

As I recall, this work represents at least five years of effort and it's looking great!

Here are a few shots of Gius' beta version of a few years ago.

Since there many less objects, i believe it's an improvement about the fps in regards to the beta version of some years ago....

Thank Gius

Wow re wow!

This is the only complete sim city I know about. I will give it a try and look at the fps. If with the new rigs we get some bearable fps, it´s worth a try doing some other citys and port to fly over, may be not to fight over (fps in mind).

Cheers, Discus

Hope you're right, since i've in mind to realize a group of other small cities.
MANY THANKS,
GIUS

Hi All. Jeez Guis, beautiful work! I'm inspired to do an install for SCW now. I downloaded some of the stuff a few years back but not all of it. Just tried for some of the downloads but those sites are gone, as most of you know.

Do we have most of the downloads here at the outhouse? Sure hope so....I've gotta give this a whirl!

Cheers:jump:

Try at the library, most of the restored downloads are here.
Bye,
Gius

I'm having problems to get this fully working. When I finished setting everything up, I cannot get as many buildings as in the pics. The roads show fine, a few big buildings as well, and trees OK, but not as populated as in the screenshots.

I've installed all seven Wolfi's Objects packs, Xabier warehouses as the readme stated, but no result.

EDIT: Is it possible that the gsl file in scw_madrid2.zip could be wrong?. Instead of just changing it for the original cfs2.gsl, I tried to add it to my main one (not to loose all Xabier airfields buildings), and it read "1 GOB files processed, 0 GOB areas inserted"

Jap lance, all is due, in my opinion to Vista's user account that doesn't permit to modificate the original gsl. In order to solve that, i've prepared a layout that should solve all. I'll upload it today as soon as possible...

Gius

Japlance,

If you have Vista, check and see if UAC (User Account Control) is turned on. CFS2 will do some funny things if UAC is not turned off. Go into the control panel, and look under "user accounts."

And Gius,

This is outstanding work, thank you! :ernae:

Yes, my friend,
the problem resides effectively in the Uac, in my pc all is ok with the UAC turned on, but , when distributing the scenery, the problems surge on the other rigs.
THANKS AGAIN

Sorry folks, neither Vista nor 7 here, only good old Windows XP.

I'm quite used to add GSL files for the airfield packs of Achim and Xabier among others, and they always work, so OS is not the problem here.

I am an old SCW fan. The planes of this era are the best for dogfighting in my opinion. I have flown all of the available campaigns at least twice. Nevertheless, I have kept my SCW install intact and will use this and many other updates in the near future. Any Spanish speaking volunteers out there? I would be glad to put together a Spanish Pilot Radio Chatter pack if I can find at least one dedicated person to record the wave files. Send me a PM if you want to do it.

Well, finally, thanks to Gius .lay file, I could make a new GSL that merged nicely with my previous add ons and showed up with no problems.

Unfortunately, the framerate drop is so wild that renders the game unplayable in my system even in free flight with just one plane, so I will probably have to uninstall the GSL part.

But it certainly looks like a real city!!!. The job is simply astonishing.

Hi all.......Japlance what are your 'puter specs? I'd like to know 'cause I'm NOT running a high end machine myself.

If it's prohibitive for yours then I'll have to rethink installing the GSL on my machine as well. Thanks

Cheers
