Nice monitor for FSX

so nice of you to offer to buy it for me moe! .... i'm gonna need a bigger desk as well as your at it! :icon_lol:

Looks great, but at $6499 it's a bit out of my league!

Liked the three screen surround layout though - but $19500 in monitors alone is a bit much for FSX!

Nice find though, perhaps this is something that will catch on and become more affordable.

Ya need to buy three of these to get the true surround view and sound effects...Oh Santa :ernae:

It's nice, and an interesting idea for a monitor, but the 2880x900 resolution might not work out as well as you think. In the FS9 and FSX hardware menu, it only goes to 2560x1600. Makes me wonder what kind of cropping and chopping you would experience when you try to fly.

I have a hi res Gateway 30" monitor (1600p) and it's nice, but it still doesn't hold a candle to my 52" HDTV (1080p) with lower res. HDTV's are way more affordable and beyond immersive, especially with photoreal scenery!

I think the FSX menus show whatever your setup is capable of. For example, I have a TH2GO installed and my FSX menu includes super-wide modes such as 3840x1024.

It varies enormously, there are some 100hz and 120hz out there I believe, but obviously the better they are the more expensive too.

You could easily do three 60" screens for less than one of these monitors though and have pretty decent refresh rates. Alternatively you could run three projectors so you get a borderless view - that would be really impressive, but I don't see the wife letting me do that!

With regards to HDTVs....how is their refresh rate, and response time?

NC

My 52" HDTV gives you the option of changing the refresh rates. It has a range of 60 to 120 mhz. The lower ranges are for TV or movies, and the higher ranges are for games. It also has a PC mode.

Ask JMIG about projectors. He's got a projector set up, but he was talking about moving in the HDTV direction.

I almost never use my 30" Gateway monitor for FS anymore, and it's an awesome monitor. The large HDTV format is KILLER! You can use the zoom to make a fighter VC as wide as the real thing, and the canopy bow still doesn't touch the edges of the screen. Everything is so much bigger that the drop in resolution compared to the Gateway isn't even relevant. The Gateway is 2560x1600 res, which alot of PC monitors don't have anyway.

I've run FSX on my 47" 1080p lcd hdtv's and still prefer the Dell 30" monitor because of the higher resolution. :)
