Didn't he do Battle of New Orleans? "In 1814, we took a little trip down to New Orleans..."

I believe he died in a plane crash in northern Louisiana.

Hit by a truck.
Killed by a drunk 19 year old who walked away from the accident with minor injuries.
Johnny it was said, was good at evading drunks from years of practice, being on the road while driving from gig to gig.
However, he was on a narrow bridge when the other driver came across the line and had no where to go.
He was married to Billie Jean Jones at the time.
She had been married to Hank Williams.
She was a double widow at age 28.
Both her husbands had died in car crashes while riding in a Cadillac.

Sounds to me as though Billie Jean Jones was jinxed
