From the manual, p. 90: "However, the MilViz C-310R does not model cowl flap levers. The cowl flaps are modeled fully open. Further on the C-310R, the cowl flaps are fully internalized inside the engine compartment and therefore do not produce drag. They are normally left fully opened and should only be closed when the CHT is below the green arc for any sustained time period (such as in-flight engine shutdown).

The synchophaser I don't know - I'm guessing that the RW aircraft modeled does not have the option, so not included.

Thank you for that endorsement. Aside from the dimming function, it has all the functionality of the real world unit. It is also one of the very few Xpndrs that supports both VATSIM and IVAO natively.

Actually internal cowl flaps do adjust the flow through the engine compartment and do affect the drag somewhat. However as opposed to the huge cowl flaps for say a large radial, they do not extend into the airstream and do not produce any buffeting, and only a relatively small drag change.

It is fairly easy to manually sync a twin, by ear (the washing machine Charlie effect goes away) but quite difficult for a "quad". Syncrohasers are installed in large aircraft to mostly reduce the vibrations that can over a long time cause airframe fatigue. I hadn't ever flown a light twin that had one installed but certainly they might have been an option.

Obviously I'm the only person whom has asked the questions but as true to the real thing that Milvis has made to this Beatiful aircraft, why not Cowl Flap Levers (even if there not seen on the out side and the Propeller Synchrophaser...

was that alot of extra work? It adds to realism.

The cowl flaps are completely internal to the engines and produce essentially zero drag. The end result of including them would be wasted resources drawing two knobs, texturing them, and animating them.

Most C310R models do not have synchrophaser installed, even though it was a "factory option." We opted not to include it either.

We have since learned that for this aircraft to work as we intend it to work, you need to have installed SP2 and Acceleration.

Long story short, we thought we had tested for SP2 without Acceleration, but after the complaints we had from all our customers who had SP 2 without Acceleration, we went back and to our horror and embarrassment realized that even this computer was configured with Acceleration!

In the immediate term, I have re-written the requirements section on the Flight1 point-of-sale site to reflect the truth that you need SP2 and Acceleration for this aircraft.

In the long term, since we made what ended up misleading statements, Bill Leaming is working on new model files to allow the aircraft to work properly with SP2 (but not Acceleration) installed. This will obviously take some time, but we do want to make this right.

If I may offer a personal recommendation it would be that Acceleration is, in my personal opinion, well worth the price. We already know of multiple cases where customers experiencing their initial problems had them all immediately disappear after installing Acceleration. So, this would certainly be a much more timely option than waiting for the re-worked additional models. When the new models are ready, I will add a separate link on the Flight1 sales site where you can get them.

Sorry for the frustration this has caused for some of our customers.

That's a shame but good to know before I pulled the trigger. Thanks for making the announcement. Just proves that it's always good to wait a few days after a release to see what the problems are!

You don't need SP2 *and* Acceleration - you need Acceleration. SP2 is part of Acc. Acceleration users definitely don't want to download and install SP2 :icon_lol:

You have my sympathy - this has not been an easy launch for you. I hope you get if fixed without having to redo too much work, so SP2 users can also enjoy this fabulous twin.

I'm happy to report that my OOM crashes are NOT due to the Cessna 310. After suffering another one last night, while on final at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, I loaded up the same flight with the Eaglesoft Twin Comanche and suffered the same OOM crash at the exact same place in the flight.

Now if I can only find out what is causing these all of the sudden. Never had them before. The ground textures start going black in big squares, then it just stops and I get the "Your computer has run out or available memory" message. I use the 3 gb switch and have a utility to shut down non-essential services before running FSX.

Actually, that wait might not be too long. I have found and fixed the "weird external lights" issues in FSX + SP2 only, but will have to reinstall Acceleration to determine whether this fix will still work in FSX + Acceleration...

But before that, I've got to stop the "backwards windmilling" when using FSX+SP2.
