File Description:
FSX Mini Panel is intended to replace the global default Mini Panel. The panel is made up of good basic freeware flight instruments that can be used for any type of aircraft. This gives the pilot a common set of gauges to use on multiple aircraft. Additional navigation and control surfaces gauges are provided. Information is provided for wind direction, drift, ETA, ETE, direction, distance and name of the nearest airport; direction and distance to the next waypoint set in the GPS; and radar/absolute altitude. Lee Hetherington excellent TCAS gauge is also available. Karol Chlebowski's TFR gauge is included that allow flight at extremely low altitudes. Extensive tooltips have been provided on most gauges.

In the Readme file, it refers to two files that need to be downloaded:

autolandjj.zip

and

cpitcmdr.zip

I did find cpitcmdr.zip, but not autolandjj.zip. I've searched AVSIM, Flightsim.com, and Simviation, but no luck. Anyone know where this file can be found?

Thanks.

NC

Pete,
I did some looking around and it appears that for some reason, that gauge has been pulled. I checked about 10 different references to that gauge and when I go to the referenced page, it's either empty or that reference is no longer there. It was even supposed to be on the flightsim.com "hotlist", but after sifting through 7 pages. . .it's nowhere to be found. I did find one that says it's for FS2004/FSX and you can download it here:

I'll give it a try, Ed. Thanks!! Pete

I looked through the readme and found that the gauge was done by J.J. Joseph, but even doing a search using his name came up with zero.

I also e-mailed Bill McClellan who put the entire gauges set together to see if he can shed some light on why there's a gauge referenced for the mini panel that isn't available.:salute:

I'd be interested in knowing if you get this sorted NC as there are a few thing I could use on there.

Well, I installed the files as directed by the Readme file, but strangely enough, nothing has changed.

I am not getting the display pictured in the file at all. In fact, the original minipanel is intact. That's weird, because I thought I had overwritten them all.

This is frustrating now! Am giving it a break. Maybe one of you folks can successfully install it, and post pictures, please!!!

UPDATE: Got it working. Getting ready to take screen shot in a minute or so....

Pete

Ok, it appears I'm missing one gauge but I'm going to open my magic box of tricks (FSPanel Studio, lol) and fix it. I'm also going to adjust the layout somewhat as I think it can be more readable if some things are moved around and resized. A WIP.

Ed,

Looks like I got the same thing as you. I would be interested in seeing what you are able to modify!

Pete

Off on errands, but be back later.

Oh, and one more thing. Perhaps you won't have the same problem, but when I try to go to Full Screen mode, it always crashes FSX. Windowed mode is ok. I tried several times, same thing, with other aircraft too. Maybe that can be fixed????

Pete, for what it's worth, Bill did some testing on the minipanel and as it turns out, it's the TCAS gauges that are causing the CTD. . .they work fine in FS9, but in FSX it has to stay in windowed mode. He did offer a workaround, but it just eliminates the TCAS altogether and adds a simple vertical speed gauge in it's place.:salute:
