K. Malinowski B-24 D wheel doors

SOH-CM-2022
Hi,
I just noticed that KM's B-24 D (both models) is missing the wheel well covers for the front wheels. Is this something weird that has happened to my system? or has it always been like this and I just haven't noticed before?

Thanks
Gavin

Did it have them???

Don't know if B-24 had wheel covers............???

Is this a trick question...............am I on Candid Camera.................Hi Mom...............Number One.........

whoooooooooooooooo!!!!

This was intended.
The model represents the B-24 used in the desert without lower turret (to increase range) and removed covers.
I remember there was an issue with them while operating in the MTO, so they were removed on many aAircraft.

Hi Jaxon,
KM's B-24 D contained 2 models. The first was a standard B-24 D, the 2nd is as you described (stripped version to reduce weight). The funny thing is that both models are missing the front wheel doors.

I don't remember ever noticing this before and was wondering if there was some thing weird going on with my system?

Simviation .............

km24Dc.zip..........................at simviation.com

aka...............Moby Dick.............

Also..............operation tidal wave three plane package .......has three other paints............km_B-24D_Lib_pak.zip

Also, a Robert Hawk.......did a great desert paint ......"Strawberry Bitch"...................has doors???

but its a different model.......says its a Malinwoski from the operation tidal wave pak???

So........the original operation Tidal wave had doors???? I didnt fly that model

Either way.................great set of B-24s ......doors or no doors.............

Now go blow sometin up guuud?

Build your own.......

For those not aware...............

www.freeflightdesign.com has alot of basic military, commericial models to build from ............including the B-24d and B-24J

If you look at the B-24d it is missing a front wheel door......................or its up because wheels are down in the bacis model .......key frams added later

so this maybe the basic model K.Malinowski built from...............

Crack out the FSDS and add a door and make your ouwn if the mood so strikes you............

I don't have cfs2 in..............could the key frames be screwed up..........so the doors open on the bomb bay???........... or flaps or ???? oh well.........minor issue.....

Thanks for confirming that I wasn't crazy Rockster. I thought that maybe there was something freaky happening with my install of CFS2.

You get exactly the same results that I do - the standard B-24 Ds are both missing their front wheel doors and the Operation Tidal Wave model isn't.

It was really mostly an academic query, KM's "standard" B-24s, although lovely to look at and fly, are too frame-rate heavy to use in most mission scenerio's. The exception being his PB4Y models, these are still frame rate heavy but that is OK in missions since they tended to operate independenly.

I knew about the B-24 models at FFD (in fact I downloaded them to check out) but figure between the default B-24, Alpha Sims, and KM's we have lots of choice.

I have been toying with the great km b24's and think the Tidal Wave plane is quite the best for some reason. The panel is more complete but mostly it really flies by the numbers and it doesn't have a collapsed nose strut as do all the others. I tried the Moby Dick and yes the nose doors aren't there. And like the km b24j's has an endless takeoff run, a collapsed nose strut and was climbing out at over 250 mph. I swapped the Moby Dick textures into the Tidal Wave plane (to make it green) and the doors are quite right again (no ball turret though). There are some AI-only km b24's out there. I flew behind a formation of 8 of them with no stuttering so they are worth the download. They fly well, shoot at the bad guys, and hit the target which is more than I can do.
