Razbam F-102 Flight Model

Just purchased the Razbam F-102 last night..... Great Aircraft! I never thought of myself as an Air Defense puke, but this Duce is a very nice aircraft an fun to fly. Razbam has really impressed me with the model, the VC, and the sounds.

Now... the flight dynamic. As default it flew very well, but not so well taking off..... I applied Hschuit's cfg fixes, panel fixes, and new AIR file and she takes of and lands wonderfully.... but she is now much much slower in the air. At FL 230 and full military power I only had a ground speed of 360 knots. Winds were light....... at full AB I could not exceed 373 knots indicated.

Is there a way to have a delta wing that lands reasonably well, takes off well, and has the ability to ride the mach at altitude?

Open to any and all suggestions. I love the aircraft, and I think everyone should go pick it up so we can defend our virtual skies from the soviet bomber gap. :salute:

Also.... is there a way to dial in the course for the Nav 2 radio? Not exactly sure how to track VORTACs on this 102 other than homing directly.

One of the lessons learned from delta wings, was you can't have it all. I have used the Kazunori FS9 F-102 air file as a replacement, and it does an overall good job for what I like to do...formation. I haven't put the Kazunori air file through the entire flight regime, maybe you can test it further.

Bone,

Haven't had a chance to get the current fde into formation yet.... but that is also my main interest in FSX. Will keep ito's FDE in the back of my mind if I have any problems.

Cheers,

Chris

Chris, I looked into the hi alt speed issue and made some adjustments to the engine tables. As a reference I used Wikipedia: Max speed is Mach 1.25 @ 40.000 feet. I attached the updated F-102.air file

I am not an FDE expert and I do not have the data for the entire flight envelope so lets just hope RAZBAM will do a nice upgrade one day with a proper FDE by Warchild.

F-102 Nosewheel Slamfest

I thought the F-102 flew well until landing time. Even coming in at 200 the nose wheel would slam into the ground. Checked the forum for a fix. I ended up leaving the cfg file alone and substituted the air file from Restauravia's MirageIIIC. Now I can come in over the fence at around 175 per the pilot manual and have a nice touchdown and rollout. The only problem I found was that you no longer get the trim change when the air brake is used. I also threw Milviz's F-100 effect controller and smoke effect into the panel and cfg files. now the 102 smokes like a J-57 should! (I substituted the F-100 sound file as well.)
