FSX SP2 vs. FSX Acceleration vs. XP Home

tommieboy

SOH-CM-2025
I notice some of the newer aircraft coming out are for "Acceleration" only. Since my OS is XP home, is there any point to me installing Acceleration? I'm not interested in multi-player or missions, or the additional aircraft; I don't have the time for that. I'm lucky enough to load up a pre-saved flight, and what the planes fly-by on my screen. I just converted over from FS9 to FSX SP2 within the last month. No regrets here; RIP FS9......

TIA,

Tommy

The OS makes no difference to whether you should have Acceleration or not.

The reason some new aircraft are Acceleration only is because Acceleration added several additional features not available on the basic FSX install (you should patch up to FSX SP2 though as the bare minimum as that kills a lot of the early bugs). If a new aircraft makes use of those features then it becomes 'Acceleration Only' as only Acceleration users will see the benefits.
