Iris C-27J Arctic Ops

CG_1976

Ret. US Coastie/RCAF
The Iris C-27J Teaser is right at home in the Northwest Territories of Canada. This AC can kick some serious Arctic WX rear ends.

Those pics are very well done CG1976,

I just hope that Iris completes the VC soon......

Iris and i have a promise to keep first and you'll know what it is when David announces it.. However, I have been assured that the C-27 is anything but dead or forgotten and we will be working on it.
Pam

I do not know Colin. As you know, i'm an independent contractor just as you are yourself, and Iris's business is Iris's business.. i dont involve myself with it.. I'm sorry..

That really is too bad because, quite honestly, it's been more than a year and I've not seen a penny... Pretty or not.

oh well...

Thanks for the pics!!! I have been wanting this plane since I saw it announced, your pictures have taken that wanting away!!!!!...its looks like the FS9 I have and no better!!! will now forget it , like the wise man said..."A picture is worth a thousand words or more"....

I have to say I agree. Not impressed at all with the modeling or texturing. Some very rookie errors are made on that. Just looks bland! Looks like freeware 2 me.

Some suggestions. Weathering! Lots of it. These cargo aircraft get dirty, no matter how new it is. Darken the panel lines, and add them too the normal map. Work on your smoothing groups! Forward of your flaps looks awefull with the bad smoothing groups. Everything looks a little too "round" giving it a Fisher Price look. Thats just general modeling tips, and not even including the numerious errors I see in the model vs photo's.

please keep in mind when I bought this it is a teaser and still a WIP. Personally it's better as its a FSX native and to me better then Ito's in Fsx. It does come with RAF and RAAF paints. I throughly look forward to the finished product and any further WIP pics Iris post.

Welllll, i can solve the texturing question very quickly.. I did the paint for the canadian SAR.. So, please keep in mind, i wield a calculator, not a painbtrush. it was the best i could do, but no, its not a professional job, and the model is an alpha version. It has a long way to go..

I never UVW map unless the model is finished, so thats why I thought it was close to final. This web page may help you if your looking for source.

Pay some attention to the aft wing fillet. Its very sharp with defined lines on the real C-27j, but yours is blended in and soft. May be a UVW thing. Thats the sort of thing I was seeing on your model that I think can use some improvement. :salute:

Anyone else notice that DB (aka Smudge) hasn't responded to any inquiries about the Spartan? I wonder if they're going to actually do it... I wonder....

Maybe we should provide a VC (which we have)... a la B-52... (not that we DID that)

Sorry. Not at this time. I have to wait until 2011 before i can do anything with it. It's still under contract to the CDN Armed Forces. Once that deadline is reached, I am allowed to use it for any and all purposes.
