in the market for a new joystick

so after trying to extend the life of my joystick, its nearing the end of its life after being knocked, yet again, off the desk by numpty here. I'd love an x-52 but cant justify that amount of money at the moment, so i'm looking for an under £50 joystick that'll twist so i can use it for rudder, it also has to be pretty tough and wellish made! :monkies:

Anyone got any recomendations??

A Saitek CyborgX is quite affordable. I have one and it is a great joystick for its price. It has twin throttle, 12 buttons and is fully adjustable.

That's actually pretty good stick for the money. I have an old Saitek Evo Force-feedback joystick that is going on 7 years old and it still works perfectly well. I bought a Cyborg X a couple of years back to use for my laptop when I travel...zero issues. Price/performance wise I could not ask for more.

Not to hijack the thread but here's a related question I've always wondered about -

Do you have the joystick in your lap or on a table/desk?

I hold it on my lap - one hand on the stick, the other on the base and the throttle. Just feels more natural that way rather than having my arm raised up to reach it on the desk.

I confess I'm not much of a fan of the AV8R either...the rudder action is pretty flimsy. I also did not like placement of the throttle in AV8R. The CyborgX was stronger had a better throttle placement and had a couple more progammable options.

I've got (2) Logitec Wingman Extremes, (1) Saitek x45, (1) Saitek x52 and a Saitek x52Pro (currently using)
....I like the x52 sticks the best.

Some day I'll get the yoke set and pedals

These two and TrackIR 5 is My setup

price about £400 all and all!

Rudder pedals 90 Amazon

Saitek X52 Pro 150

TrackIR 5 Pro 130

cost of looking like a tit while wearing your flight helmet while doing it - Priceless!

Not worth the money lol!

Edit...great for showing off at parties though because everone wants a go!

From a Cyborg X review on Amazon -

It looks great and has loads of adjustments to suit pretty much any hand or style of play. The buttons (bar one) fall easily to hand and work very well. The twist action (yes it does have one) is probably the best I've come across. The split throttle feels great and can be converted into a single throttle with the press of a button (something that works surprisingly well). Physically it centres extremely well.

Hi....I can suggest the Thrustmaster Hotas X....Joystick plus throttle....I haven't it, but I tried and it was not so bad. I had the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, but I found useless, the z-axis on the stick, it was too sensible....

for my personal configuration, after a Saytek X45 totally modified, now I have the Logitech G940.....it is great :)

The best stick is the MS Pro and you can get them for about 10 bucks used. I got mine at the goodwill store for 7 bucks and it was brand new. Look for the usb version. I fly mine natural, meaning with all springs removed.

I have had them all, the cyborgs the x 52's the expensive and the cheap and this is the stick I use today for all sims.
