The Mystery of RAF Mildenhall in BoB and ETO 1.40

The following Aircraft in BOB will not take off from the RAF Mildenhall. They are the BoB Wellington and BoB Whitley. All the other British aircraft do! Including the German Bombers.

The same problem occurs in my ETO 1.40. The ETO Wellington (LG W) and the ETO Whitley will not takeoff from RAF Mildenhall. This also includes the AvH_ Wellington.

In the second LZ BC Mission the same problem occurs. If I select another Aircraft for the Mission. It takes off.

I am one step away from re-installing my ETO.

Can anyone help me?

Try this. After the engines are started throttl up then lower the throttl and throttl up again.
Worked for me in mission 1. have not tried 2 yet.

. . .or hit War Emergency Power - WEP ("W" on the keyboard). They will take off.

PS: It's the aircraft, not the airfield, that's at issue.

Here is the "Kicker!" In BoB I just tried the BoB Wellington on three RAF Bomber Command Bases. RAF Scampton-5 Grp, RAF Waddinfton -5 Grp and RAF Feltwell-3 Grp.

The Wellington flew from all three bases.

In ETO Era 1, I tried the following: New Zealand Farm, Kenley and Fowlmere. The ETO Wellington (LG W) flew from all three bases.

It(Wellington) did not flew from RAF Mildenhall in either BoB or ETO 1.40?

In all the flights I used 50% Flaps , 100% Throttle and assisted takeoff with Wep.

:wavey:Wellingtons taken off and in flight :salute:

Instead of re-installing the whole show you may want to modify the mission to fly from another airbase or modify the global layer to place another airbase facility at the Mildenhall location.

When you do this, does the plane move forward at all? Are you not moving, or not gaining altitude? Does this happen only during a mission or in QC?

First of all. Thanks for the help.

First of all the aircraft (ETO_Wellington or the AvH Wellington) just set there at 100% throttle, flaps at 50% and Wep in operation. (Brakes are off)

Secondly. This occurs in QC and in the Mission that concerns "Mildenhall."

The Wellingtons flew from Mildenhall 1943,1944 and 1945 in ETO 1.40 with no problem in QC.

That has me really puzzled?

I hope this explains it all

Well, got me stumped. Just to check, I attempted a Wellington takeoff from Mildenhall in ETO. No problem after either doing the thottle trick or hitting WEP. I don't have Mildenhall in my CFS3 BoB install, only the main BoB airfields, so I couldn't check that out. I thought it was the aircraft itself, since it won't takeoff without jiggering the throttle or using WEP. Now, I don't know.

I can replicate the problem in CFS3 BOB but in ETO 1.40, I can take off just fine from Mildenhall.

In BOB if I move down the road to Westley, I can take off in the Wellington just fine.

Both versions are using the Wellington LGW.

Is it something about CFS3's Mildenhall?

I'll try moving my ETO 1.4 Mildenhall over to BOB and see what happens.

Okay Why would anyone want to fly a Wellington anyway???
:icon_lol:
They are JUNK.. Like flying a Brick with wings..
And such ugly paint on them too..
:icon_lol:
Use the Great American Bombers like the near perfect B-17 or B-24..
Why fly British Junk when you can fly America Iron.. :applause:
:salute: :salute:

Well so much for me ever getting another British bird to wreck from the Masters..

:icon_lol:

As for the take off problem, I'd say just change aircraft..:icon_lol:

Off to Hide, On Goes the Ring..:pop4:

Keep your brakes locked run up the Power to 100% then Hit the WEP (W) release the brakes and see if
the Wellington rolls for you .
Or reduce the fuel load to 50% and try this.

But again it is a Wellington, so it isn't likely it will fly, without help Anyway...
If nothing else we can tow it into the air with a B-17 maybe..

Off to Hide before the Brits see this, They will hang me by my Furry feet again..

Took another step to figure this out, but I suspect it won't be helpful to you.

I installed the Phoney War Bomber Command missions in ETO. No problem taking off from Mildenhall. (Again, need to use WEP or move the throttle back and forth first.) So, at least this suggest that it's not the mission, per se.

You seem to reference trying to fly the mission in CFS3 BoB. But the mission - I believe - is for ETO. Nor is Mildenhall one of the "main" airbases in CFS3 BoB and won't appear unless you alter the global scenery. Could that have something to do with it?
