WHO makes the best Phantom for CFS2

I am getting the feeling that everyone loves the Alphasim F-4, but the ai f-4 for fs2004 is so sweet with so many skins. Has anyone talked to the author about converting it. If this is a hot topic I am sorry I haven't heard. I already got spanked for talking about converting that other guys planes.

Watch out for Alpha F8s!!!!!

I was flying one last night and doing 2525knots from Chicago to Colorado Springs, NOT on simulation rate of 2X or 4X! I was on "normal" sim rate. Checked it several times!

Better have it on unlimited fuel, too. Otherwise you run out shortly after take off at full afterburner. For a single engine jet, it sure does develop some speed! Starts the speed shakes and everything!

Converted Phantom for CFS2

Howdy Devildog,

I feel the F-8 was truely the last gunfighter, since the air to air missles during that time acted more like bombs. I guess that the Alpha f-8 is the best, if not the only F-8 out there.

If you didn't shoot them down with a gun, then you really did shoot them down.

I tried many many times to convert the FS2004 AI F-4 to CFS2. The animation would not convert. The control surfaces were all skewed and the drag chute was permanently deployed. It would take a serious heap of SCASM editing to get the plane to work right in CFS2. The frame rates were incredible though...and the plane is super easy to paint. One texture sheet.

I have some new skins for the Alpha F-4s that I have been working on. Much sharper, crisper colors and details.

Some nice paints for the Alpha F-4s are available on Flightsim.com.

F-4E-II.zip, rf4last.zip, vmfa251.zip, 115vmfa.zip, vmfa333.zip, do a search for Roy Scott...he has more on Flightsim.com for the Alpha F-4s.

Do a seach for modwep.zip on Flightsim.com. A nice package of US Modern weapons. Bombs, rockets, missiles.

I found a sound package for the F-4 on Flightsim.com. I am not at home right now, and can't rmember the name of the package or who did it. Once I get home in a couple/few hours I will look inside the sound pack and find the info and let you all know.

Concerning the ALpha F-8s. Lots of nice repaints out there for it....Simviation.com I do believe. I use the Alpha F-8 in FS2004 as well...with some serious effects tweaks....and love it. In CFS2, it is my go to plane for shooting down Migs...but you have to work the throttle and speed brakes like crazy....that bird is so fast you can't yank and bank in it.

I have been trying to get a E2C that is a FS2000 to work in CFS2. I ran it through the Utilv2 and it fails each time. It appears to be a GMAX model (.mdl) I am a complete novice at this and am trying to get a wrap on it. Is the GMAX a automatic failure? Also Hsu's program, is there a DOS program basis needed for that to run?

The F-4 package I use is actually on Avsim. It is by Ferry Sab. Do a search for his name, and you will find a list of his sound packs...mostly for military jets.

I was till I got to the "bottom line" and gagged!!!!:icon_lol: 12,5 to fly!!! Waaaaaaaaaaaaay out of my league now. Did the "AircomatUSA" things for awhile and it was fun but even that got a little too pricey. Current economic climate I am harboring some resources.

In the end I had an excellent choice right before my eyes and I hadn't realised.

The AlphaSim Phantom is the F-4E with the nose gun, but there is a UK FGR.2 version that doesn't have it. It looks great, at least to a non-expert in post-ww2 planes, after a change of skin and .DP with the Alphasim US Navy F4N:

The one SC7500 suggested converted to CFS2 well, but it had some sort of light out of the nose and was not a clean version, having pylons, missiles and droptanks included in the 3D model.

The Alpha A-6 sound package, actually a French Mirage sound, is excellent for all twin engined fighter jets. I have heard F-4s up close and personal in Vietnam. They sound a lot like the Mirage on the sim.

I bought the Iris F-4 this weekend on sell and the multiplayer model converted with HSU program. I threw some alphasims bombs, rockets, and gun pod on it, it is pretty awesome.
