Orbx PAKT has me sink through the runway

Francois

FS Veteran
Since there are quite a few Orbx aficionados here, let me ask this: Anybody else having problems with landing on PAKT (That's Ketchikan, Alaska, for those uninitiated in bush flying)?

Looks like some sort of mesh problem. And yes, I do have the Orbx latest patches loaded and scenery files at the top of my scenery.cfg. The platform and taxiways are okay, but the runway is buried underneath the new(?) mesh it seems.

Maybe, yes. I do have UT Alaska loaded of course.

Unfortunately I am denied support from Orbx, so cannot use that link. Haven't seen a patch to allow UTX to be used on the patch screen on their site. Should there be?

From that thread it says to disable PAKT through the UTX control panel. Lemme know if that works for you.

I used the UTX Alaska control panel to disable PAKT under the
<terrain> <modify status="" of="" repositioned="" airports=""><terrain> <modify status="" of="" repositioned="" airports=""></modify></terrain></modify></terrain>TERRAIN Modify Status of Repositioned airports
<terrain><modify status="" of="" repositioned="" airports=""><terrain><modify status="" of="" repositioned="" airports=""> This fixed the issue for me. Did not delete any files.</modify></terrain></modify></terrain>

Hoi Mithrin, bedankt.

Yes, I found it in another thread here on SOH, thanks :) Seems like PF is not playing nice with existing add-ons, uh? I'll dig up my UTX control panel and try that ... *sigh*....

Are we surprised? Interesting that you can disable adjusted airport heights in UTX but not in Orbx.

I created a scenery for Courtenay Airpark (CAH3) but ran into an elevation conflict with Orbx PNW. Orbx decided to adjust the elevation of CAH3 but unfortunately picked an elevation that was further from the real world elevation than the default FSX!!

Ahhh! You're one of those rebels :ernae:

(I have not set my mandatory order # in my signature yet, I recognise I will not receive support if I do not adjust my profile according to the rules described in this topic.)

I don't think that is it. I don't have my profile adjusted but I am still able to log on to the Orbx site. Probably if I continue to post too many more unfavorable Orbx posts that could quickly change.

No, not really...... :icon_lol:. Some 'companies' care more for their customers and colleagues than others. Some don't care one 'bit'.

He spelled the name wrong, ie Orbiks! Francois, the file that needs changing is in
FSX\Scenery\World\Scenery\UTX_PAKT_AP.bgl Just change the .bgl to .XXX
and that will fix it.

:salute:

Thanks Dex ! I managed to do it via the UTX setup application. Result is the same :) It works now... of course the runway now is in the wrong place again, but hey.......

In addition

ive seen similar posts over there about mesh, while many tweaks and tips sites say run your mesh scale at 76m

Orbx claim their mesh is set 5m and most mesh related probs can be fixed with the correct mesh scale

Unless you use OZx NA with Orbx PNW in which case they recommend that your mesh is set to 10m and not 5m.
