Restomod Ghia. Reminds me of Bernard Newbury's fantastic modified Ghia from the mid 1990's.
I've always loved the classic air cooled VW's.

....It's a beauty. Not too sure if the color is 'textbook' though. Probably cost more to have it applied than what the original cost of the car was. Dig the louvered pseudo hood and simple grill. Definitely,...'less is more.'

I gave my wife one of these...canary yellow-black racing stripes. It was like driving and airplane on the ground! Bought from Hemphill-McCombs Ford in San Antonio and had Alamo Body Shop do the customize. You might pay those boys a visit P. They do great work. I remember having to put two engines in it!
My ex-wife's little sister had a nice looking Karmann Ghia while she was going to college. The engine caught fire on her one day going to school and she didn't realize it. Just kept driving along. Finally someone flagged her down and got her attention. She got out in time, but her Ghia burnt all up.

They look like new model Porsche 911 lights. I'd a set of older 911 lights with modded integrated turn signals on a restomod Vw Bug/Beetle back in the early 90's.

Thanks for sharing Panther....the Karman Ghia is one of my dream cars, and one of the 5 most beautiful car designs of all time. There are a few in town...one is beautifully restored to original.
My dream is to take a KG, remove the VW engine and transaxle, install a front mounted aluminum blocked Odd Fire GM 4.3 liter V-6, a 5 speed tranny, and a modified Corvette rear end, a custom made Mustang II style independent front suspension. That would be a screamer!
Saw pics of one on line that was receiving the engine, drive train and suspension components from a Dodge Viper. V-10 Baby!

... includes fond memories of that car! My parents then lived in South Africa and I was about 5 years old (= about 40 years ago). They owned a yellow Karmann with a black top. My brother and I rode in the back as my parents explored South Africa and the surrounding countries, often travelling on dirt roads or wilderness tracks. That car had a fully loaded luggage rack on top. It took everything thrown at it without once breaking down. I remember that we annoyed a solitary elephant once which rushed at the car! My dad put his foot down and we left him standing!
They sold the car and bought a Ford Cortina because my third brother arrived.

My Dad had a British racing green Karmann Ghia back when I was in high school. It was a fun car and like most of 'em, it had a perennially dented nose as it stuck out past the bumper. I always wanted him to put a Porsche engine in it, but he had more sense than I and he left it stock up to the day he traded it in.
