'Avro Arrow Released'

Very nice, downloading now..will post some pictures when I get back from the gym.
 
It says, "compatible with FSX SP2" just to let you guys know.
 
Indeed Panther, If only I could get my legs to be as strong as one of their arms....

Anyways, here a quick overview after 30 minutes with her:

- Confirmed; models produced via FS9 SDK, although they were nice enough to convert the textures to DDS's

- Detailed systems modeling (really enjoyable in this sense), although expectedly less intricate than the X-15. There Kneeboard checklist is very thorough, so if you are a fullscreen single monitor fellow; this works out very nicely.

- Some of the toggle switch/cover animations need to be cleaned up.

- As good on frame rates as a port can be

- I have comments about the flight model, but since I'm a developer in that area; I'll shut my mouth.

Thanks for the heads up on the Arrow Panther. I got it tonight and am happy I did. It's a nice historic bird to add to the growing CAF hanger.

I had to **** to figure out I had to use my scroll wheel to make some of the knobs and switches work but once I got onto that I thought it was pretty slick how they worked. I think they did a nice job on the manual too.

So anyone running Dx10 would see no textures. At least they are using "compatible" as suggested in Phil's blog to describe an fs9 made as user friendly for FsX.

I don't know, I have read somewhere that if the correct texture format is used, even a port-over can show correctly in DX10... and it seems to me that this "correct" format was dds... anybody can confirm ?
 
In early attempts I took the default Tri Motor and tried many different texture types including .dds dxt5,3 & 1 and I had no results except with Addon Converter X but there are no alphas ie "shine".

This is from the full manual:

"Note to Windows Vista with DirectX 10 users: The DirectX 10 Preview option box in FSX display settings must be unchecked for proper aircraft display. The current version of the software does not support certain DirectX 10 features."

and

"NOTE: If the "Light bloom" option is selected in the FSX display settings, the Arrow add-on aircraft may not appear in the aircraft preview window and during flight with the screen becoming all white."

I haven't found any advantage to using DirectX 10 on my system so I stay in DX9 mode but I know others have experienced performance gains, etc, with DX10.

I'm definitely liking this Arrow. The cockpit at night with just the gauges illuminated is stunning. :applause:
