What the???.....

while flying one of House Hobbit's MAW eastern front missions recently, i noticed one of wing men had decided to lower its gear (see attached image). this is odd as we were miles away from base and attacking a ship convoy.

dose anyone know why this is or is it just a glitch in the game!

wouldn't that damage the gear and is the computer really that intelligent? all the reviews I have read criticize CFS3's AI

I notice this all the time when I'm escorting bombers like the B-26's. The whole formation will fly with the gear down at very slow speeds on the way home. It is irritating when you are low on fuel(under 10%) and have to manually fly for 100+ miles. TAS is under 200mph.

I have noticed it a few times as well in different missions. It is a glitch I believe. I used to think it would happen if you warp too soon after takeoff, but flying for longer before warping doesn't seem to change the issue.

cheers

It is a CFS3 issue.

After take off, if you wrap too quickly, some of the wingmen will not have their landing gears and flaps completely up. In this case, they will stay in this position for the rest of the mission.

To avoid this:
-> when you take off, check that all the wingmen have all their flaps and landing gears up BEFORE you wrap.

-> when you build a mission, all AI formations must start with a 'turn' waypoint to avoid this problem, only player formation should start with 'Take Off'.

What is your recomendation when doing an escort mission? 4 of the bomber flight start on the runway while the other 4 are already airborne, along with my escort flight.

2 possibilities:

1- you wait until all bombers are airborne with landing gear and flaps up before you wrap.
or
2- edit the mission xml file with notepad and you replace takeoff by turn for the bomber formation and you setup altitude and speed because thay are at 0.

thank you...I will try these out.
