"British Airways Plane Stuck On JFK Runway For 8 Hours"

I´m stunned how this can happen nowadays after similar events in the past, and assurements it won´t ever happen again. I wonder how much belligerence rose among the people onboard.

Business Insider.

Ridiculous, why cant they go out with mobil stairs and a few buses and take them off?

Yeah I've never understood why they can't take pax off of the plane so that they can be comfortable and maybe fly your airline again. Instead they leave them in a plane for hours, all pissed off, and probably lose customers.

I remember many decades ago there were "mobile lounges" at some airports that would collect passengers from the terminal's "gate," drive out to the parked a/c, then crank up to the a/c's door and allow pax to walk directly onboard...

...and vice-versa of course.

Every airport should have one or two of these for "emergency use" at the very least!

British Airways Flight 183 reportedly spent nearly 8 hours stuck on the runway at JFK overnight with no explanation from BA staff. .......yes it was a Blizzard,The Gates were full,All comments here were the answer,Were it a fire, they would have deplaned in minutes!!,..and yet those incompetents treated people like confined cattle...no explanation??..In this age of Terrorists ,has Fear so paralyzed good ,humane judgment??.....Commercial Flying Is not fun No More!..Sadly!!

When they made it illegal to strand passengers like that, it was only for US airlines. Foreign airlines can still legally leave the passengers on the plane in the US.
