Flight Controllers - What's The Best

Hey gents I really need some input from you all on Flight Controllers. Right now I don't even have one. My old MS FF died and I'm looking to replace it with something even better. I've had my eye on the Logitech Flight System G940 but no one has said if they've used this system with CFS2. It has everything I want with FF, Rudder Pedals and a split throttle for multi-engine A/C but I have not been able to find any reviews that say anything about CFS2. Which really doesn't surprise me.

Has anyone used the Logitech Flight System G940 with CFS2?

Is there something better out there for the same kind of $$$?

I've been using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro for a while now and it works OK for me. I still have my old MS Joystick in the closet as my back up.

Looks like a good set

Some troubles..........search here at SOH ..use .....g940......in search bar

mostly FSX.....

Logitech Product Manager on Youtube says it is compatible with all products since 1999/2000

Looks good to me, if you got $300.00 and are a serious flight simmer....alot of stick time/dollars.

Lots of youtubes on the product......

I bought the G940 set about 2 months ago...just returning to combat flight sim. Another friend of mine has the same set used mostly for civil flight sim's.

It does work well, got a preset already in there for CFS2, more progamable buttons than you can poke a stick at, pretty good feel through the 3 pieces although I would like the pedal springing a bit firmer. It all seems to work quite well...I'd like a little more action on the foot brakes but that can be adjusted to.

Main drawback most people that have these sets seem to complain about is a not so hot set of help files for putting all those settings to work. Customize profiles for each sim or user.

In the overall scheme of things I don't mind them at all.

Thanks guys that really helps. Great to hear that someone is currently using that specific hardware with CFS2. Figuring out the set-up of things is fun to me so I really don't worry about that as long as I know it can be done. Thanks Again!!!

OK I will admit I am a bit of a nut when it comes to controllers, I have like 8 sets, and I am not kidding... I do like the G940 the only issue I have run into is it reports all 3 devices seperately to the game interface and some games will not see 3 seperate devices. I have not tried CFS2 yet but it would likely be fine with 3 controllers, my main Space Sim will not work with the G940 and that is a bummer. Overall it is a great system, and lots of controls, the software does take some learning but it is not overly difficult and quite versitile.

I also have 4 Saytek systems, the AV8R stick which aside from the placement of the throttles is a nice low priced stick, the X45 which just will not quit the thing is almost 10 yrs old abd is built like a tank, the X52 a nice system but having some calibration issues after 4 years. I also have the Yoke, Rudder and a couple of Throttle quads which is great for FSX but not so good for combat except bbigger bombers.

Lastly I have a Logitec Extreme #D Force Feedback stick, it has lots of miles on it abd works like a charm, I am impressed with this stick it has been around forever and even though it is mostly plastic it just keeps going and going.

I guess the bottom line is there are lots of choices and most of the brand name mfgs make very good product, hatd to choose a best of breed.

I use the Saitek Avi8R (mentioned above) with my laptop - it disassembles and packs away nicely in my laptop bag. And I use the Saitek X52 with Saitek foot pedals on my desktop setup. Saitek is reasonably priced and fairly sturdy.

I've had the x52 for over a year and absolutely love it. I haven't had any problems as of yet. It's good quality for the price and works in CFS2 and FS2004 with no apparent problems. Though not as nice as the one your looking at, you can't beat the price. Good luck! :salute:

X-52. I've had mine for about 5 years now and its awesome! I also have the rudder peddles. Back back-up stick is a Sidewinder PP2 non-FFB. Dunno if it works with windows 7 though...

It also works excellently with the UBISoft IL-2 series flight sims. :ernae:

I have had CH stuff forever now...Yoke and pedals.USB,.OK for me..tune them up..and reasonable performance..Reasonable prices!.none of em,I believe can approximate the REAL FEEL......Any Who,every plane I ever flew had different inputs...Stick,wheel ,or Yoke.. trim wheels or Cranks, bar Flaps or switches.,toe brakes, heel brakes, hand prop start, switch start,.....the side sticks exciting...in planes today...I guess a TILLER..would be interesting.also. A stick in heavy iron is out of place ,as is a yoke in a Jet Fighter!I think!

I would like a Simple J-3 set up.as well as a more complex, DC3 set up....In our Sim the Ryan Lindbergh flew it seemed it was a hoe handle,,chest high..a Two hander!!,,some day we may get a system to simulate the feel of air over the control surfaces.and the ability to realistically Slip a plane!! altho one or two do a good job with that effect!.Mean while ..if It an't broke don't t fix It
