Beech AT-11 KANSAN Released

@DHC120,

When you first posted your frame rate issues, I thought you were talking about the Hobbs Air Base scenery impact. It seems from subsequent posts, it is the aircraft causing the your FPS issue. If that is the case, give me some time and I will give you some help with that. I would hate to ask you to give up texture quality to achieve what is otherwise achievable using the same textures.

I built the AT-11 partly to satisfy the FSX views and therefore the VC is a full aircraft just like the exterior spot view model. If you do not go outside the VC as they do in FSX, then I will reduce the poly load for an FS9 version. This will require a full day's worth of effort but I do not mind doing that for a lower poly version.

This weekend I will release a lower poly AT-11 much more suitable for FS9. I want to get those sliders back to the right where you like to run them. :)

Thanks

Thanks Milton for this fantastic aeroplane.:salute::salute:
Also did a fictional repaint and got the tin snips out and did a bit of skin rework, hope you don't mind.

William :wiggle:

Milton;
Sorry I wasn't clear in my description.
If it's any help.. I'm not a "VC Pilot", the 2D Cockpit works well for me and, of course, I do go "outside" the plane when taxiing around an unfamiliar airport and/or when "looking" for the airport (I get lost easily ;-} ).
I hate to make more work for you, just to satisfy a lone vPilot, but I do appreciate your willingness to help correct my problem.. and I would like to continue to run my sliders to the right of center..
I guess my computer ain't the "hot-rod" I thought it was.. Bummer.
I do appreciate your help.

Hi,

It's rather a easy process ..
You need the tool DXTbmp
You can download it here:
http://www.btinternet.com/~mnwright/programs/dxtbmp.htm
It's a good help included :)

Hope it's help !!

Claudius;
Thanks.. I appreciate the detailed information..
Milton is going to revamp the poly stuff to make the plane more frame-rate friendly..
I've printed-out your instructions and may go that way, if necessary.. plus they may help with other planes I have..
Thanks, again.

Throttle Quadrant

When I click on the icon for the throttle quadrant all I get is the knobs for the props, throttle, mixtures and the back ground is a black square. Is any one else getting the same thing?

Hi,

For DHC120

As you don't want to use the 3D panel (VC) I have a good news for you.
You can get rid of the 3D panel completely by editing the model files with a HEX Editor.
If you want a explaination I can send you a tutorial about.
But for now I send you there the model files with the VC already removed .. so you will have only a 2D panel.
You can download all the models for the AT-11 here:

http://www.4shared.com/file/SjPVDaDa/MODELS_AT-11.html

This will make the plane more "light" and less taxing the system :)
BTW you can also get rid of the textures with VC in their name as you don't need those.

BTW .. this is the tutorial:

Yes.

I'm dowloading the manual install version now. I love the Twin Beech's and I'm going to try this one in FS2002 standard and see how far I get! :salute:

Thanks!

Christopher,

If you will be patient, I will do a proper FS2002 version this weekend. Takes a few hours each model.

Yes, that is the way I released it. It is functional without the bmp. Optionally you can just delete the window07 (Lg ECU) from the panel.cfg (or ignore it) as it is just a large option to window03, Small ECU..

We did not have a bmp of the AT-11 at the proper angle to do this. If you really want to use this, you can borrow the ECU2 bmp out of the D18S. It will work but does not represent the AT-11 ECU.

Yes.

Claudius,

I would assume that he would want working wing, engine and prop views outside since there are no 2D side views. This requires a VC to present those views.

I have offered to provide a lower poly, lighter textured model for FS9 users as FS9 does not like a heavy VC model. I intend to do that this weekend.

Bonjour William,

Love your Swedish skin on the AT-11 ! Although fictional (I don't mind), it would do nicely to dress up my Beech as i'm mostly flying out and about Sweden nowadays.
Did you intend to publish it or can you share a private copy if not ?

And to you, Milton and Team, you have made a lot of Grand'pas and grandsons very happy...

Your planes are gorgeous...

Thank you ! :icon29:

Fleurdelys

Thanks Milton! I'll look forward to trying it out! It's been a long time since FS4's Aircraft
and Scenery Designer!

Christopher,

Do you want a full VC or a optimised one? How strong is your computer?

I have the civilian one converted as a NO VC (with wing and engine/prop views) and it works well (as a test). Ready to do a full blown VC now.

I'm not Christopher, but I'd very much appreciate an optimized one with VC (for FS2004). For sure, the high-res textures and the extra polys are a bit too much for my finely tuned
P4 2,4ghz 512RAM 128 AGP About 3-4 fps short of fun here... I tried to downsize your textures to DXT1 with alphas ... but still getting freezes in the VC. Otherwise, it's another one of your gems!

You don't have to do it of course, but I'd much appreciate it if you did a VC model with less polys!

thanks in advance!

Full VC is fine! I'm hanging around 50-55 FPS on my computer with FS2002 Standard, and I love looking around the inside to see who (or what) gets left behind! (I had to work tonight, second shift!) :salute:

Thanks, Milton!

It seems your issue is your RAM limitation of 512MB. You really need at least 2GB there and as cheap as it is today, you should really treat your self.

I am happy to do a more optimized VC ... will take 16 hours to prepare the four models and textures and package them so maybe by Sunday night.

Ah, great Christopher ... that makes it easier. :)

Since all the superlatives seem to have been used up, I'll just add my humble THANKS to Milton and TEAM for this wonderful gift.

What he said! :applause:
Downloading as I type.

The paint kit is patiently awaited, but I think I'm gonna start my NZ Aerial Mapping repaint right now (once I've finished my first excited test hops with this new baby of course!).

Cheers,
Markus.
