VRS TacPack PreOrder has begun!

Hahaha, I just posted this in the other thread. Cheers. I'll let the mods figure this one out lol.

Dang!!! Sorry Cody,I got so Excited when I saw the preorder button was active I didn't look!! lol
Cheers bud!

It's not letting me checkout with the pre-order. Anyone else experience this problem? If so, is there a workaround yet?

Matt

Disregard,

Apparently I have two email accounts and had to use the right one I purchased VRS Superbug with. So, it's now on pre-order.

I'll vote with my wallet here too.

I don't want guns, I want real nav systems. It is almost a farce that the VRS is as awesome as it is but it still requires use of the default flight planner. It'd be like PMDG releasing the NGX without a FMC, forcing us to use the default GPS instead.

I hope they put out the "advanced" version or whatever they were calling it s**n. :wavey:

WOW, been startled by the CS release, eh?
Anyway, looks good. Time will tell which one will prevail

I want to clear this up a bit if you don't mind.

I was a former avionics technician who worked ECM, however my sister shop consisted of NAV. We sometimes swapped jobs when work got slow. The way military aircraft deal with navigation is fairly similar throughout the armed forces, at least in regards to the modern fighters I was around. Typically before a mission a data chip or connector is inserted which uploads mission particulars.

The VRS aircraft works similar to the real aircraft. Once a flight plan (and yes, you can use ANY flight planner as long as it saves to FSX standard) has been inserted, all mission points can be adjusted, deleted, etc. Navigation in such planes is relatively rudimentary, and with purpose as I doubt you are going to have a STAR for your bombing approach in the middle of a third world country.

My only point is that VRS' plane does not care where the flight plan is made as long as it is FSX compatible. From there you can edit it as you see fit, and as far as I am aware, the real plane works in a similar fashion. Once the data is entered, it can then be altered.

I don't understand this argument. The VRS plane's navigation system works just like the real one.

What would be your alternative? Have them build their own flight planner?

Yes sir. One of the first tech demos of the TacPack made months ago showed a plane being flamed by the guns of the Superbug.

[EDIT: I found the video. Mind you, this video was made in April of last year]

I think its clearly the otherway round, CS got startled and had to release. The VRS one has features coming out of its nose fromt he looks of it! Multiplayer capable out the box makes it auto win for me, though I will still be waiting for the reviews, news and of course some screenies of someone adding guns with a warbird.

I'm sure we'll see that, along with the video of a 109 being taken down by a Spitfire with a Sidewinder, lol! Hopefully, it will have some sort of lockout where the person setting up the online room can limit the weapons available. Of course, this could make for a wonderful remake of the movie Countdown or Final Countdown, whatever it was that went back to WW2 with the F-14's. Only I'm thinking A-10s this time. ;)

Dang Cody, your videos keep getting better and better each time you do one!

Almost time for a DVD compilation!

Lets see, CS wants 14.99 Euro for their "released and in the field" version. That's just over $20 US today.

These guys are offering pre-orders with $10 off this month to bring the price down to $19.95.

This interests me BUT it seems to be specifically designed to work with their Superbug which I don't have. Later "phases" of development hint that it will work with other aircraft but will there be a cost for these? And are we looking at weeks, months, or years until there is something I can intigrate into a Mirage?
:ernae:

Don't know, for 14 something euro bugs I jumped in got the CS package.
Honestly, I feel entertained quite well and I don't have the impresssion I should regret anything.
Now once the VRS-offfering is out I'm certain it'll top what I have now, and with luck it'll be interesting for me as a developer as well.
But for now I'm having fun with the CS offering. :)
