Arrest made in laser incident...

I got lazed one night, but it didn't strike me in the eyes, just got some brief green flashes in the cockpit. What really got my attention one night was a car dealership's arc lights. Those sumbeatch's are ungodly BRIGHT! I got about 5 seconds of a direct hit in the cockpit, and we were swimming in the brightest, purest white you could ever imagine.

The lasers are a problem this side of the Atlantic too. They should be globally banned outright.

Another issue that's cropped up lately are the numbers of "chinese lanterns" that are being released coming into contact with aircraft, both GA and commercial. The SAR guys are pissed off too as some are being reported as distress flares, resulting in wasted time and resources checking the sightings out.

Laser pointers are great entertainment if you have a cat.

Works very well with our Minature Pinschers. Our fat old mama, Dinky, will almost kill herself trying to "get the bug".

As for the miscreant they caught, I'd like see to attempted manslaughter charges with a count for every person on that plane.

I fully agree. They need to start here, and after a few are put away for awhile, most of the incidents will go away. I feel that it's mostly kids anyway, but still extremely dangerous. These are our own "home-grown" terrorists to say the least.... (perhaps punish the parents too??)

Also, my cats love to chase my laser pointer around the room. Quite funny actually...

Oddly enough, this exact thing happened when our band went to California several years ago. One of the students was being stupid. The FBI was involved...

Don't think I should really say anymore about it though. :kilroy:

On my last ship while we were at general quarters (battlestations for non Navy people), we had a young sailor in the repair locker start flashing his shipmates in the eyes with one of those things. All of us khaki types left him alone with the guys who'd he'd been trying to blind for about five minutes. He was pretty glad when we came back to rescue him.
