Just as a reminder, as in our 'Part 1' P-51D product, everything you see is a result of multiple years of research and development, utilizing all of the information and sources possible to create truly accurate recreations of these real-world aircraft. For example, if a bolt within the cockpit of the P-51D is fitted with a lock-nut, with a locking wire at the end, well then you better believe it has it in the sim too. ;)

Something new that we haven't ever done yet, included as a free-bonus in Part 2, is a 'classic warbird' paint scheme, that of "Moose/Candyman", as seen in the UK in the 80's and 90's before becoming as it is now, "Ferocious Frankie". We hope to continue to recreate these 'classic warbird-themed' schemes as free additions to the collection of current-aircraft you get in Part 1 and Part 2.

Another of many firsts for MS Flight Simulator within this product - a dual control TP-51D, "Daddy's Girl"! From the back-seat, you have fully functioning stick and rudder controls, throttle and prop controls, and four instruments in the form of a Manifold Pressure gauge, Tachometer, Airspeed, and Altimeter.

Here is a view of the front office on "Daddy's Girl". As an early "D-20", the aircraft was manufactured before the time that the rocket launcher modifications were added to the Mustang. As a result, the aircraft has an early configuration, never before recreated for any flight sim as far as I know. As you can see, before the rocket modifications were added, all of the engine controls were mounted right on the middle electrical panel, beneath the instrument panel. The bomb/drop tank controls were mounted on the instrument panel, above your left foot. This layout was much the same as the layout originally on the P-51A/B/C. It wasn't until mid-late P-51D-20's (late in WWII), that the rocket modifications brought about the late-style configuration, with the rocket and bomb controls on the center electrical panel, and engine controls on the instrument panel, that everyone is most familiar with now.

Along the left-side of this screenshot, you can see the connector rod, leading from the forward prop control lever to the back-seat prop control lever. You can also see, passing from one side of the seat to the other, the rudder pedal modification added for back-seat control. You also can just make out the gun sight bore-sighting markings on the backside of one of the prop blades - on the next blade around, the gun camera bore-sighting markings are applied.

Oh bummer! :icon_eek:

I am spending far too much on FSX addons..................my wife is already packing and my children have left me..........even my dog is wondering what is going on............What shall I do?

OK, I need to pass on this one.....don't I?

Well, I really do like Part 1.

So, maybe?

Cheers

Is Warbird Sim going to produce a P-51D for FS9?

Hi Albert,
I loved 'Bomber's' P-51B and Cs for FS9. With the likelihood of Microsoft releasing a new sim in the near future and not having the incentive to move on to FSX, I will probably be running FS9 on and concurrentlly with the new Microsoft Sim when it arrives.
Any hopes of a FS9 version of your stunning P-51D?

I was hoping Part 2 would be a sampling of unrestored production examples, but after seeing the screenshots... downloading now :)

Mal, I'm sorry to say that no, there aren't any plans for releasing an FS9 version of our P-51D's. Not to say that FS9 isn't a great sim, as it is, but it would simply require too much time that we don't have, to be dedicated to doing all of the converting and creating new textures, and then doing everything else we have planned from here forward (for instance, all of the main exterior and interior texture sheets are 2048x2048 which FS9 doesn't support).

With Part 2 we are completing the collection of restored types. All of the variants covered in Part 2, we think compliment those in Part 1, and as a whole, you have a wide variety of current types to pick from, all very unique in their own ways, inside and out, from one variant to the next.

Is there any kind of discount for people who already bought Part 1? Sorry, someone had to ask! I am sorely tempted anyway, if only for the back seat ride and the lovely Jumpin' Jacques. Incidentally, does Jacques have his white civvy panel with all its mod cons?

Hi SpaceWeevil -

Talking with Peter Teichman, owner of Jumpin Jacques, we've decided to present the aircraft how he envisions it will become over time. Recently the entire engine compartment was overhauled and painted/primed and detailed exactly as originally from the factory. The goal is to do the same to the cockpit - bringing it back to completely stock (though keeping the rear seat). This is what we have done, and as an early D-20, the cockpit is configured as it would have been from the factory. Furthermore, if you look at the K-14 installed on JJ, you will notice that it has the standard range placard, different than as seen in Little Rebel, which has the European issue/Luftwaffe aircraft wingspan range placard - as the aircraft's scheme is that of a Pacific-theatre Mustang (Little Rebel an 8th AF Mustang).
