Two seater spitfire repaint question

Hello there,
This is a question to repainters.
Do you think it is possible to repaint this port over 2 seater spit to match the colours of the KJI shown below ? I know nothing about repainting!
thanks for your infos !

Looks like the Aeroplane Heaven Fs9 Spit that I think was available as freeware?

It can be repainted. I had a look at it a while ago. 90% is fairly straightforward. The problem is finding the last 10%! As the aircraft is textured green is was very hard to spot which part of the aircraft model certain areas of the texture related. In the end, after playing around for a day or two, I gave up.

If you do want to repaint it, then I can show you (or anyone else) what I did note.

Cheers

Paul

Thank you Paul. I'm not a painter so I prefer to leave the job to talented people who might be interested. I think that's a good opportunity to add a beautiful variant of the spit to FSX. This green paint is nice and depicts an original one but looks a bit artificial.

Do the autogen objects disappear behind the props? If so it's the way the Fs9 aircraft was modelled. With some port-overs it's just the clouds that seem to be in front of the prop and these can be made to look reasonably good with a very dark alpha channel.

It would be cool to have one painted as the famous Grace Spitfire. It would have a wonderful symmetry to it, painting over that skin with ML407 colors.

This is Nick Grace photographed while retrieving a wing of ML407 from a museum before restoration. Note the paint job he got her in. ;)

OK, I will go back and have a look at what I did. From memory this came out of the JF Spitfire pack originally. That pack then had an update to work with FSX SP1 only. But when I looked at it the model and texturing were different on the two seater compared with the others (I think). The freeware AH two seater release was a later derivative of that and generally was OK with Accel.

Anyway, I will look back, but doubt that I will do a proper repaint because of the problems that I had then in identifying where some of the textures fitted onto the model.

Cheers

I see only prop interferences with the clouds (and none with the autogen). I use FSX + ACCEL.
I just changed the engine sounds, added an autopilot and this 2 seater is really fun to fly, escorted by some A2A, JF BOB or RA spitfires!! (I tried the "Plane design" FS9 MKXVI but it doesnt portover properly, but thats a known issue).
thanks Paul for your efforts! :ernae:

Please don't get too excited. I am still not sure where all of the green bits are on the textures. They all look the same.............

Don't worry paul! I understand how tough it must be to get something good out of those files. If you can do it, its great, otherwise too bad, but at least you will have tried your best ! Thanks anyways!

I have spent a bit more time on it - now I know why it was painted green overall! :icon_lol:

Basically, with time I could do the wings and the rudder (I think), but some of the small textures are 'anywhere'. Not unusual if a developer is not issuing an aircraft for repainting.

So, I will play with it a bit more, but I am not hopeful. I suspect that this particular model was issued with just this particular colour scheme in mind.

Cheers

Paul
