Hello all!!! Late to the party and raring to go

Hi there everybody.

Used to fly cfs2 back when I was a bit younger, was never introduced to the world of add on's then!!

Anyway, recently bought it again and absolutely loving a) all the great planes and other add ons and b) there are still plenty of people flying! Really adds so much to the game.

Anyway, a couple of things I could do with some help on.

Looking for a good Fw 190a and a Barracuda. I prefer aircraft that are nice on the eyes and have all the working gadgets (I.e. rolling wheels, Folding wings, Tail hook, opening canopy) Any recommendations?

Also i've been having some panel trouble with a couple of planes. One recurring thing is when I look back with the hat the screen goes black with a couple (particularly a nice P-51 I have) Is there an easy fix for this? (I am running windows 7 so I'm aware there could be compatability issues)

Any help would be most appreciated and hopefully I can start contributing in some way (Particularly interested in doing some paints, but I'm not the best paintshop wiz!)

Cheers

Ian

Hi Ian, welcome to the basement.

I'm sure our experts will advise you on the aircraft you are looking for.
It is late where I am right now so I will not begin trying to give advice on your panel issue, my usual first response is along the lines of "can you be more specific".
Hopefully someone will recognise the problem you have and post a fix or workaround.

Welcome aboard Ian. Hope to see you around in the coming months.

Probably the best freeware FW 190 Anton is by Akemi. You can get it at his web site as well as a slew of other fine WWII aircraft.

For the 2d panel problem, try adding the line below to the [Window_00] paragraph in your panel.cfg file located in your Panel folder. I usually use it to place the "Shift Z" info above a 2d panel, but I recall someone stating some time ago that it also helped with the delay in the hat switch transition between the various views.

Exactly what I was looking for! Looks like another great site to scour through aswell!!

Shall try the 2d panel fix later on tonight

And I intend on doing plenty of downloading Demorier!!

Thank you for the help guys!

Coincidentally, Are there any other more obscure sites that I may not have stumbled upon yet?

I've been frequenting: Simviation, Flightsim, ABsquad, Myzone59, Morton's skydrive, Groundcrew

Mirror Fix

Let us know how this works for you. The only solution I ever came up with was to delete the mirror file from the panel folder.

Ian,

I can't say that I'd put ABSquad on the "good" list, there are a lot of issues with that site. But as far as you asking for some sources for aircraft, skins, and ships, allow me to suggest a few more.

I came across ABsquad when I first started looking for add ons, Must say I did remove most of the AB aircraft etc but I emailed the guy a couple of times and he was quite helpful

Another great list of sites, Should keep me busy! :jump:

Thank you! Shall be avoiding AB myself if the popular opinion is poor. Just out of interest why do people avoid them?

Tried the Jagdflieger Fix and it seems to have worked!

The Guy styling himself "Lt Cmd Riker" has repackaged a lot of planes that may be found else where.
Whilst it is true, what he says, that the self installer he uses, saves the hassel of manually installing, and makes the new boys life easy...
The question is, did he ask the original creators of those aircraft if he may repack and publish on his own site? I do not know the answer. But some here and at Simviation will say he did not.
Some may also point out that self installing free ware is a security risk to the unwary...

Ah, must say I noticed a lot of his aircraft were on other sites. And the self installer wasn't really that helpful as I'm on a x64 system

Ian, I didn;t start CFS2 till Oct of 2009, the missions and campaigns and neat stuff is almost endless for CFS2, your looking at close to 2000 aircraft add ons alone. Have fun!:salute:
