I deleted about half of my FSX original planes a few days a go. I just don't fly them so I thought just delete them. Anyways I need them back. Whats the best way to reinstall them. I only removed the plane from the simobjects folder.

If you still have the folders you removed the simplest option is to just put them back.

If you 'deleted' them they went into your recycle bin. If you have not emptied the recycle bin since then you can restore them. Double-click on the recycle bin, find the folders and select 'Restore'.

If you emptied the recycle bin they are gone (to all intents and purposes) which means you have to either :

1. Insert the first FSX disc and select 'Repair' but things that modify stock FSX files (like REX themes etc.) will have to be re-installed.

or

2. Do a complete re-install of FSX. If you do this to the original install location any add-ons should still be OK but things that modify stock FSX files (like REX themes etc.) will have to be re-installed.

Two ways I am aware of :Option 1 do a repair from the FSX disk not the best if you have a lot of add ons as the repair process can make all kinds of wonky things happen to add ons: Option 2 do a fresh install of FSX in a seperate drive or partition and cut or copy and paste the planes back into the original install. Hope this helps.

I see someone beat me to it my 10 WPM typing speed strikes again.

Are they still in your recycling bin? If so open to the contents and right click/restore the aircraft folders.

If you have emptied that, you may be able to go back to your last back-up point (XP) in Windows. I think Vista or 7 has some thing even better, but I have not had chance to find out yet!

EDIT....or my 5 WPM!!!!

There gone. I thought I might just have to reinstall the game. But thought I might ask first.

Could I install the game in a folder say on the desktop them just move the planes I need.Or would this be bad.

Please, try one last thing:
I use a lot when i accidently delete files. Dwnload an undelete program from internet, like "RECUVA". It´s freeware. http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Install it, and do a complete search in your FS partition. The program is very friendly and if the deleted files is ok in the hard drive, it can be restored.

For example, i accidently deleted a folder where i put all my payware aircrafts. This little program managed to recover all of it!!!

Well, at least is worth a try in my opinion... good luck!

Flaviossa, GREAT tip!! I'm off to get the program you mention here just to tuck away. :ernae:

Thanks for the program advise. Gave it a shot and still no luck. Some of the reason I don't think it found it was because I do try to keep my PC clean. So I'm doinig the repair mode and see what happens.

XLR, I have used the repair function on the FSX disk a few times, and it’s not had a derogatory effect on my add-ons. I think the best way is too uninstall Acceleration then re install it after the repair, but you can, if you wish, repair FSX and then repair Acceleration. Good luck, I think you’ll be all right.

Well...heres the out come. I did the repair thingy and when I ran the game got a crash to the desktop. I didn't uninstall acceleration so thats probably why. But I just did a fresh install, and got most of my aircraft installed.

Lesson learned here...don't believe everything you read.

Thanks everyone for your great help.

Actually, the real lesson to be learned is...

...don't just "Delete" stuff unless you truly know what you're doing! :173go1:

Just teasing a bit, so don't take what I just said the wrong way... :ernae:
