Corben Baby Ace

That is an excellent modeled plane. In all of it's content.

I was wondering why the files were hefty when I was downloading, they are full of some very excellent paints.

Can't find one flaw in the entire plane. You are a master modeler Full! Thanks for the time you spent on making her.

And thanks to the all the others that help to make her. Beautiful!

Some screenshots (sorry they're in FsX)

So that's some of the eye candy in FSX! That wheat grass looks so danged real.

Those are some nice shots of the Baby Ace Roger. I've only loaded the nospats model. Can't wait to load that superb looking float model. Those floats look so real and look like floats should. Thank you all for this nice Baby Ace Model D :jump:

Thought I'd be hooked on the Duck for the rest of the evening -- until the Corben family landed that is. This is one sweet suite of babies:applause: I'm always tweaking everything I down load, but these are pretty much as is. Alright, I did change the water effects on the float and swap out Bill Lyons engine, but that is only personal taste. I like the more gutteral sound (is that a real word)?

Thank you for yet another beautiful batch of low and slow toys.:greenbo:

Oh my gosh! Did you see how big those tires are on the tundra version?!?!? Man, I'm gonna feel like a cousin-kissin redneck flying that thing! I can't wait to get it installed, fire up some Bluegrass music and go flyin!

Thanks Full!

Yes gutteral is a real word! That's exactly the sound you were descibing! It is about the same sound that those VW aircraft engines make or sort of like a John Deere tractor out working in a field, but only if the John Deere was moving over the field at 90 mph. Kind o gutteral like.

Full, I have to say, what a tremendous freeware gift you have given us, in so many variants and liveries - only just begun to indulge myself with the Tundra Tire version - a Huge Thank You for your efforts ! Mike :ernae:

Beautiful plane, but any sort of forward movement on the tarmac results in the tailwheel hopping up and down. Stopping doesn't seem to help and it registers as a crash soon afterward. Perhaps an issue with the contact points or MOI? Any help would be most appreciated. I've wanted one of these since seeing one in Mechanix Illustrated.

An absolutely lovely airplane. And so many to chose from! Unfortunately, like DrZook, I am experiencing the bouncy-bouncy tailwheel upon landing the plane, which is followed immediately by a crash. Hoping for some kind of help with that issue. But otherwise I AM IMPRESSED. Thanks for such a beauty. It was well worth our wait. LA

Thank you for such a great set of aircraft. All the others as well as the Ace. I was amazed at the variety of configurations and paint jobs.

I have always had a warm spot for the Ace and parasols in general. The MI Baby Ace was my first try at scratch modeling as a kid using the drawings in the magazine. I've since collected a couple sets of the magazine series showing the bird.

One place I worked at had a nice Ace tied down outside the hangar. I always enjoyed looking it over and watching it fly.

Thanks for the plane and the memories!

What a great little airplane! Hard to imagine a better one for low 'n slow flying on a perfect spring day!

N.

PS. And thanks for all the variations and paint schemes!

Have you guys looked really close at the detailing in the cable system on the water rudder and rudder hardware. I have not seen this amount of detail put into a cable system on any other plane...and never have I seen the water rudder equipped with cables and hardware. Amazing amount of small details that make these planes just that much more amazing!

Obio, I did indeed notice all the detail and with no framrate gobbling. I was curious if the designers used that new technique that Bill "Lionheart" Ortiz has been using ...the only things I've notcied that could possibly be described as minor things are the "hopping" that was described a few posts back and the fact that there is no visible mixture control altho the leaning and enriching of the fuel seems to work fine. Yep, this is really a nice set of models. I've always said that sim modeling is a dynamic artform and this particular example rates very high on my keeper list. With that in mind it seems to me that if the planes can be so splendidly detailed that perhaps the scenery can be detailed as well with no noticeable drops in FR's!

First thing that popped into my mind...

Thank you William for getting this out to us. :ernae:
Sorry it took so long for me to reply but it was a long day today. I tried the revised contact point, works fine, still crunched it due to my ham-handed braking style but that was my fault. the initial taxi and landing was just fine; just gotta work on the roll out (might just need to decrease the brake effectiveness but that's my personal preference)
