I still have CFS2 but have not flown it hardly at all as I am already imersed into FS9, FSX, and have just installed IL-2 1946, I was hopeing for some feedback on which is more popular. Today it seens that there are almost no new Combat sims that have come out, except the new White Cliffs Of Dover....and I don'nt know if my machine can run it, if not I will just return to CFS2..its still strong as ever.

Cheers

I love both but for different reasons, Cfs2 for it's simplicity and flexibility, IL2 1946 for on line play and coop damage on objects by players.

I am with Wolf. I would like that CFS2 could do the things that can be done with Il-2, that is, cooperative missions, good online connection. It is a pity that CFS2 can´t do that, because it is better for modding.

If IL2 had CFS2's Mission Building capabilities it be darn near a perfect sim, if CFS2 had IL2's online capabilities it be a darn near perfect sim.

I fly IL-2 1946 mostly for online play and co-op missions. With all the modding that's been done you have a wide choice of planes and areas to fly in. Nothing like taking off from a carrier in Panther fighting over Korea and trying to slow down to land back on the carrier. No easy task.

BTW AI planes takeoff and land on the carriers also. For takeoffs you can have 12 or 16 planes on deck ready to takeoff depending on which planes are used. The wings are folded until they are ready to takeoff, move to the bow and catapulted into the air.

To me it's another fun flight sim.

Well, for me its il-2'46with mods;CFS3 both MAW and ETO and STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 series. CFS 2 takes a backburner but I still ollow it. However, when Jet Thunder comes out, it will change priorities.

All I can tell you is that i have flown IL-2, CFS3, and CFS2 and have only become addicted to CFS2. Like many of the other Outhouse members I spend much more time making mods than I do in actual flight. That being said, I also find the flight modules in the other two games more difficult to master. Being able to fly easily makes you want to get back up and fly CFS2 and a newby. You can always increase the difficulty later on.

Talon, you said what I wanted to say well. It's hard to compare the two. Each is great in its own way.

Bob: It has a Mission Builder, but I don't have the slightest idea how to do stuff with it.

Does IL-2 1946 Have a mission builder and if so how good is it comparied to CFS2s mission builder

Yes it has a mission builder. I've built many co-op missions for online play. It has a learning curve just like the CFS2 MB but it's pretty easy to use. The CFS2 MB is the best I've worked with. Some of the IL-2 series had a tutorial in the hand book. I started with Pacific Fighters which had a tutorial. IL-2 1946 has all the IL-2 games included and it can be modded.

IF someone doesn`t come up with a way for a person building missions in CFS2 to controll alt and speed I will be getting IL 1946 Pacific Fighters

Bob,

You want IL2 1946 which has Pacific Fighters in it. You can MOD IL2 1946 but not Pacific Fighters.

1,000+

I have to add, the terrain and landscapes in CFS2 could use alot of improvement as well.

The AI in CFS2 are a great deal worse than IL2 1946, and the old BOB II WOV with improved AI performance is the benchmark AI. It may even have better than Oleg's BOB COD when all is said and done.

If CFS2 had been improved in lieu of replaced by CFS3 everything would have been different.

We need to be able to controll the speed of the aircraft from 0 to what ever speed is needed from one waypoint to the next. We also need to be able to do the same with the altitude, all of this is through the MB. and the MB puts limits on speed and altitude in CFS2.

Bob,

I've told you this before a several times. You have to go into the mission file and hand edit it.
