My Saitek Cyborg evo force joystick failed last week...

Any ideas what to replace it with? I want pov hat switch and twist grip rudder control. I've got an old Logitech Attack 3 without rudder (auto rudder sucks!!) and I'm using keys in place of a hat switch at the moment.

Cheers,

Roger.

Good one Heywoood!

That was my choice after reading some reviews. Ordering tomorrow.:ernae:

One of the backup sticks I've got stashed away is a almost new and in the box Cyborg FF stick. I used it for a few weeks and then switched back to my trusty old MS Sidewinder Precision Pro.

one note on the T16000...the throttle works great but has no 'scale'

this may not matter to you, I don't know - but without a scale, I couldn't tell where the throttle was set...so I made one with a strip of white duct tape and marked it with a permanent marker (Sharpie) with a scale from zero (0) to 10...then placed an arrow mark on the throttle.

This way I can tell at a glance what power setting I am at.

It is the only thing I would change about the T16000 - it would have a throttle scale built in

I go through joysticks like they're candy or something. The connection on my X52 Pro is starting to fail. Don't have any idea what to get next. I'm tired of having to buy a new stick every year or so.

Somebody needs to make a fully metal stick made of aircraft grade parts with aircraft grade connections. I'd happily pay several hundred dollars for it if it is going to last a few years. Plastic just ain't workin anymore.

Of course I contacted saitek support in regards to my X52, but nobody responded. Wonderful customer support there!!!

A decent, sturdy flight stick is also an ongoing issue on my rig. I sold all my Saitek gear (proflight yoke + throttle, X52 ) because it started to fail or had never ending driver problems. Who needs all those backlit displays and eye candy if it doesn't work or is otherwise spoiling one's flight simming.
The other thing is, I fly single engined AC (stick) and multi engined AC (usually yoke) and change this setup accordingly. For that, I have dual engine controls (two saitek throttle quadrants) and a CH Yoke as well as CH rudder pedals. So there's no need for an additional stick / throttle combo. Right now, I have a look at CH Products Fighterstick or Combat Stick - anyone using one of these? They look quite sturdy and have non of these crappy electronic gimmicks.
I wish I could get hold of an old Suncom Talon Stick - I would mod it to make it USB compatible. One of the best looking sticks out there and very rugged. But they are rare as hens lips.

Cheers,
Mark

EDIT:

Another stick, which I borrowed from our son :) to use it as an intermediate, is the Saitek Aviator. It has a twist grip, two lockable throttles, and military style switches. I'm quite satisfied with it and it brought some fun back into flight simming after the hitek Saitek desaster.

I've gone through one of those Aviators, a Saitek Cyborg X, Logitech 3D Pro (2 of them), MS Sidewinder, MS Sidewinder FF2, CH Pedals, and CH Yoke (and a couple others that I can't remember the name of). My X52 pro is on the way out. At least the Saitek Pedals are hanging in there...

The CH stuff lasted the longest. Maybe I should get a new CH Yoke and Quadrant and maybe a Fighterstick.

What I really want is Canon L Joystick and Pedals... :icon_lol:

Well thanks for all the advice fellas and I've decided to go with the Thrustmaster. Expecting delivery tomorrow hopefully:ernae:

My Saitek Evo force died as well.

I had posted a few weeks ago about un-commanded gear extension/retraction and was seeking a solution. Turns out it was the stick. Other flight controls started failing so that's what tipped me to it being the stick.

I really liked that stick. had to switch back to my ST290 pro. Just as good but no FF.

Some switch cleaner worked on mine in the short-term but last week it decided to fail the pov switch and the view change button. It never felt robust and really I'm not that surprised it died.

Taking the stuff apart and giving a real nice shot of contact cleaner will do wonders for any electronics. the heat inside is a magnet for dust, and unless you clean it out thoroughly and fairly often, the problem will always remain for anything that isnt sealed. false reports of key strokes are a common symptom of dust on the contacts inside. and if it is dust, contact cleaner will solve the problem, if you give it a nice rinse.

My main problem has always been build quality or those stupid twisty rudders. Build quality has been Saitek's main problem.

The CH sticks don't have twisty rudders do they? :kilroy:
