Oldpropfan on the loose in the SW Pacific

Had to skip a day due to repairs, sucked a couple of valves on #1, good thing we thought to bring some spare parts. Departing Boram for WAJJ-Sentani. Lets hope she holds together long enough to finish.
 
Arrived, WAJJ-Sentani. Had the wind shift 180 on me during descent and came within a anemic hair of getting an overspeed, went from 179 knt to 190 knt in a blink and yanked the throttles back just fast enough to slow her down. Don't know if I can take too many more of those but I'm trying to stay at altitude as long as possible.

Only 2 flights left but the last one is going to be long. I estimate about 5-6 hrs for the flight into Bangoy.
 
Time to dive back in, looks like I didn't shock-cool any of the cylinders or back load the bearings during yesterdays screaming descent into Sentani. Guess I could start my descent further out but whats the fun in that?

PRB, sandwiches and pop? Really? Was thinking more along the lines of San Miguel and monkey meat:kilroy:, but since we have to worry about the race commitee and the whole bottle to throttle rule will make do with lumpia and Sumatran coffee.

Yous is definately a better plan! After the race we should all fly up to Olongapo... :icon_lol:
 
Time to get going and finish this last leg. Coffee, lumpia, pbj's and O2 bottles loaded and stowed. Plan to get the old girl as high as possible to take advantage of the prevailing winds, maybe get some screaming ground speed. Departing Kaisiepo for RPMD-Bangoy.
 
Breaking news just in on the wire! Oldpropfan down in the Pacific! Radioed in from the chase plane carrying the reporters documenting this epic voyage: While dodging thunderstorms in a squall line a series of violent air currents apparently destroyed the rear control surfaces of the aircraft. Unable to maintain control of their gallant craft the crew were forced to bailout and watch the plane helplessly tumble into the ocean. After circling the area flares were seen which indicates the crew is unharmed and now awaiting rescue.

After a harrowing night at sea our intrepid aviators volunteer to make another attempt at their journey. No sooner do we hit land and its off to the airfield at Kaisiepo to retry our flight to Bangoy.

And this time we succeed:jump::jump:, even with having to fly through an even bigger line of thunderstorms starting about an hour out of Bangoy.

On the ground RPMD-Bangoy, mission accomplished!

And I'm sure there was plenty of space for fresh suypplies in the cargo hold, just in case.
