Carenado announces Cessna 337 Skymaster

Aztruck & golden Eagle?
I LOVE twin engined planes where I can see more than just than just the engines to the left & right...a definite no-go with beautiful sceneries like ORBX....

This is a must buy for me. The Skymaster has always been one of my favorite GAs. It's such an unusual design, but it really works aesthetically. Having an FSX-native Carenado-quality 337 will ensure many hours of flight simming bliss! :jump:

Now that's what I'm talkin' about!

Man, that looks great..I've spent lots of hours in my FSD 337, but as has been stated she's getting kind of old and never really ported over very well.

I hope we don't have to wait too long. It's been a while since I got really excited about a new release but this one has me excited!

Now if I could just get my hands on an old NA/Ryan Navion and an old Cessna 310, life would be perfect (well, near perfect). :)

The one aspect I am looking forward to is that you know Carenado will not spit out an aircraft an artificial looking cockpit. Like everyone of their birds I am willing to bet the cockpit will look like an authentic Skymaster you would find at your local airport (assuming one is parked there). I have always admired the way Carenado does the panels of their aircraft. No G1000's here. :jump: This is one aircraft Carenado has already sold me on. :applause:

What's "authentic"? Is the FSD Skymaster with weather radar "authentic"? If an owner of a real Skymaster installs a G1000 to update his avionics, is his plane no longer "authentic" and artificial looking?

While Carenado does make great planes (I have a Stationair 6 II), their panels have not made it into the 21st century. If it ain't glass, I tend to pass. But, I'll probably buy it anyway, since the Skymaster is so cool.

Not much a fan of retrofits, however I like newer models equipped with a Garmin G600 or G1000 flight deck. :salute:

They should release it with multiple panels. They stopped making these things almost 30 years ago, and I am sure that more of them surviving still have to "old style" gauges than not. While these "glass cockpits" are nice, they are VERY expensive. Not all a/c owners can afford avionics and electronics like that. A "factory version" should always be in the release, not just modernized versions. Just my 2 cents!

Well, since the VC is by far the most time-consuming part of an aircraft, I bet multiple panels would increase cost quite a bit for the developer.

@Glass-Panels: I prefer Steam. Build a G1000 in any plane and they all look the same. I think quite a few older planes loose most of their character when you rip their steam gauges out and put a single big screen in instead.

BUT: I'd definitely like to see a 3D mask for the RealityXP 530 =P
Way too few planes out there with nice 3D bezels...
